How do the PA 500 Ski Pants fit?

We lab-test each of our products to provide you with a value indicative of the item’s comfort temperature. This is measured without tights for pants, and with a thermal T-shirt and fleece for jackets. The measurement indicated is that of the external temperature in which our testers perceived a warmth of 0 (neither hot nor cold). Of course, this perceived temperature varies with the intensity of the activity and the metabolism of the individual.

How is comfort temperature measured?

To keep your legs warm and dry, two layers of clothing are enough:
- a ski base layer to wick away perspiration.
- ski pants to protect against bad weather and provide warmth.

Keeping your legs warm on the slopes

These pants have elastic gaiters at the ankles to cover your boots. The seal created by the gaiters keeps the snow out.

How can I prevent snow from getting in my pants?

To optimize your product’s performance and durability, we recommend: 
*Machine wash at 30°C on a synthetics cycle. 
*Turn the product inside out.
*Use a small amount of detergent. Do not use fabric softener.
*Wring the product out by hand. * Dry flat or tumble dry.
Do not dry clean. Do not place on a radiator.

How to wash your ski pants

During the warranty period, solutions may be offered to you at your regular store. However, if we can’t repair your product (production defect), we will exchange it or reimburse you.

Design

During intense physical exertion, dressing too warmly can actually make you feel cold. If perspiration can’t evaporate, it stays on your skin. It is therefore useful to have a midlayer jacket that you can remove in milder temperatures. It’s also important to open or close the vents to match the intensity of your physical effort—before you get too hot or cold.

Directions

To stay warm and dry, follow the 3-layer rule: 1 skiing base layer, 1 midlayer jacket to retain warmth, and 1 outer layer ski jacket to protect you from the elements.
Layer 1: keeps you dry by wicking perspiration from the skin to the other layers.
Layer 2: provides warmth and includes down jackets or fleece pullovers.

What should you wear under your ski jacket?

 The fill power is the capacity of the down to insulate by trapping a certain volume of air. Down has more fill power (a higher cuin number) and takes up more space, trapping more air and providing greater insulation.

- Thermal insulation thanks to the air trapped in the down and feathers
- Ultra-lightweight, as down is lighter than synthetic wadding, while offering the same degree of warmth.

Some tips: close all the zippers on your down jacket and put it in the washing machine (synthetic cycle at 30°C). 
Set on a gentle spin cycle: a fast spin cycle creates clumps that are difficult to break up.

How to wash your down jacket

When you take your down jacket out of the washing machine, it will look as if the down has disappeared. The best way to restore loft and fill power is to tumble it dry. Put your down jacket in the dryer with two tennis balls. Run 2–3 drying cycles.
If you do not have a tumble dryer, dry your down jacket on a drying rack, and be sure to give it a shake from time to time, to help fluff and distribute the fill.

How do I dry my down jacket?

Practical and comprehensive accessories for all your outings

Although the fabric chosen is highly waterproof, the assembly of a down jacket doesn’t provide flawless waterproofing. It is therefore ideal for cold/very cold weather, but is not suitable for heavy rain.

Highly waterproof (15,000 mm Schmerber) and tested in real-life conditions

A fabric's water-repellent property is its ability to let water slide off its surface without soaking in. The fabric doesn’t soak up water and so remains lightweight, breathable and warm. It’s obtained from a treatment on the outside of the fabric, which must be renewed (every 3 washes).

Water-repellent jacket, like all Quechua jackets

The synthetic fibre filling of this jacket makes it very warm so you can face temperatures down to -13°C. Ideal for cold days or for waiting to take the ski lifts.

A very warm jacket for guarding against cold, winter days

Although this jacket is warm above all else, if you need a bit of fresh air after exercise, you can open and adjust the ventilation zippers according to your needs.

The vents provide fresh air when needed

This is a very thin polyurethane film that makes the material waterproof while remaining breathable. More flexible, lightweight, resistant and often more breathable than coating, which is less expensive and requires a protective lining, similar to paint applied to the inside of the fabric.

We recommend a thermal base layer as a first layer, and a second layer (such as fleece or wool) that’s not too warm. This very warm jacket is not designed to be worn only with a T-shirt.

What to wear under this jacket?

The water-repellency of your jacket must be regularly reactivated (every three washes): to do this, use a reactivating spray or a treatment reapplication product.

Close the zippers, loosen the ties and read the instructions on the label. Use a tumble dryer set to a synthetic cycle to restore the fibres.
