How do the BL 100 Ski Base Layer Bottoms fit?

Polyester is the most-used fibre for base garments because it is relatively inexpensive, offers excellent performance, and can be knit to obtain a very lightweight and durable fabric. It actively absorbs moisture but does not dry particularly well when wet.

All Wedze gloves and mittens have a water-repellent treatment that makes water slide across the fabric’s surface instead of being absorbed. This means the fabric does not become saturated. It remains light and warm. A treatment applied to the outer surface makes the fabric water-repellent. To remain effective, this treatment must be renewed every 2 to 3 washes with specific products that are available in our stores.

The mittens’ waterproof membrane consists of a very thin polymer film placed between the lining and the part of the glove in contact with the environment. This membrane acts as a barrier to make the product waterproof. The product’s exterior materials are also treated for water repellency. Only a rubber glove is watertight. Under extremely wet conditions, a glove with a membrane will have limited waterproofness.

Anti-loss system

This scale reflects how easily you can handle objects while wearing the gloves. All our gloves are field-tested and given a dexterity score on a scale of 1 to 5. Gloves with a dexterity score of 5 allow you to handle objects just as you would with bare hands. 
The dexterity score is based on how well we could remove and put on ski goggles, adjust the hooks on a ski boot, and open and close a jacket.

Which fabrics are used to make my pants warm?

We lab test our products to provide you with a comfort indicator. The comfort indicator is measured without tights for pants, and with a thermal T-shirt and a fleece for jackets. The temperature indicated is the external temperature at which the testers were neither warm nor cold. Of course, the perceived temperature varies depending on the intensity of the activity and each individual’s metabolism.

How is comfort temperature measured?

The regular fit allows the pants to be combined with a technical base layer.

What is the fit of the 100 Ski Pants?

The resistance of a fabric is measured by the height of a water column in mm. The higher the pressure, the more waterproof the fabric. Fabric with a waterproof rating of 5,000 mm is resistant to the pressure exerted by a 5,000 mm column of water.
For skiing, we recommend fabrics rated 5,000 to 20,000 mm. At Decathlon, we lab test all of our waterproof products. This product's rating is?/ 5 In a shower test.

How is your pants’ water resistance measured?

These pants have elastic gaiters at the ankles to cover your boots. The seal created by the gaiters keeps the snow out.

How can I prevent snow from getting in my pants?

To optimize your product’s performance and durability: 
*Machine wash at 30°C on a synthetics cycle. 
*Turn the product inside out.
*Use a small amount of detergent. Do not use fabric softener.
*Wring by hand. 
*Dry on a hanger in a warm, well-ventilated place.

We opt for components and assembly processes that make our ski and snowboard jackets as durable as possible.

How can I be sure my jacket is strong and durable?

The components and assembly process used for this product make it resistant to water and wind. The waterproof rating is measured with a special shower that tests the product’s capacity to withstand the elements. Snowboarders also tested the product over several days, under various weather conditions, to validate the jacket’s waterproofing.

How can I be sure this jacket will protect me from bad weather?

The jacket’s waterproof fabric is reinforced with taped seams. These heat-bonded waterproof strips are placed on the seams inside the clothing to make it perfectly watertight. These waterproof seams are used in the areas most exposed to the snow (hood, shoulders).

Water often gets in through seams. Does my jacket have taped seams?

The water-repellent treatment applied to the outer surface makes water run off the fabric without seeping in. The fabric does not soak up water and stays light and warm. This treatment must be renewed during the life of the product, after 2 or 3 washes on average. All the waterproof jackets we design for snowboarders are also water-repellent.

What is the water-repellent feature of my jacket for?

A breathable coating is applied to a fabric in the form of a paste or liquid, creating a protective film. The breathable coating is a waterproof barrier that lets through perspiration.

Coated jacket: what are the advantages of the coating?

To keep you warm, we use insulation. A synthetic component made from polyester, it stores air depending on the length of the fibres. Wadding can be standard, hi-tech, or silicone-coated, and each type has different properties (warmth, low weight, elasticity, etc.).

How does my jacket keep me warm?

To stay warm and dry, we recommend using the 3-layer technique: 
- Layer 1 or second skin, to stay dry. 
- Layer 2 or insulating layer, to keep the heat in.
- Layer 3 to protect against the elements.

How should I dress to avoid getting cold in the mountains?
