The BL 500 ski base layer has a standard straight cut that adapts to all body shapes. It’s not too loose, so it keeps in the heat effectively.

The merino wool, from Spain, has been a carefully selected breed for generations because of its wool. It provides a softer fibre than traditional wool. After shearing, the wool is cleaned to remove impurities, then carded, spun, and finally used for knitting or weaving.

Merino wool offers an unbeatable experience: soft, lightweight, and breathable. Thanks to its fine fibres, it provides natural thermal regulation. It keeps your feet warm in cool weather and cool in warm weather.

What are the benefits of merino wool?

To stay warm when hiking in the winter, we recommend: 
Warmth: wear warm socks (ideally with a good percentage of wool). 
Breathability: choose socks based on the intensity of the hike and, to minimize moisture, make sure they’re breathable.
Boot height: the height of your socks should correspond to the height of the boot—for more protection, choose higher socks.

How do I choose the right footwear for hiking in the snow?

When you push yourself physically and sweat heavily, merino wool easily traps the insulating warm air and can absorb up to 35% of its weight in moisture without making you feel damp, which is important in cool weather. 
In hot, dry weather, water that evaporates in the wool absorbs energy, which simultaneously cools the body slightly.

During intense rides, perspiration on your hands can make them feel cold. We therefore recommend exercising at a moderate intensity in cold weather.

Water repellency refers to a fabric’s ability to make water bead off its surface without being absorbed. The fabric soaks up little or no moisture, dries more quickly, and remains light. Water repellency also helps keep the outer surface cleaner.
Water repellency is obtained by applying a treatment to the fabric's external surface.

The backpack’s water-repellent components allow you to continue walking or hiking in light rain for short periods. 
Note: This backpack is not watertight or waterproof and does not come with a rain cover.

Waterproofing

The volume of each backpack is measured using a standardized method: the main compartment and all the pockets are filled with little balls. The balls are then emptied into a graduated container to determine the equivalent volume in litres.

How is volume measured?

- Loosen all the straps (shoulder straps, belt, load adjusters)
- Put on the backpack
- Tighten the shoulder straps
- Adjust the load adjuster straps as needed

How to adjust your backpack

Put heavy items at the bottom. Pack your clothes around these items.
Keep your waterproof jacket and/or fleece in an easy-to-access location.
Place small, frequently used items in the pockets (sunscreen, map, glasses, etc.). Place your bottles in the side pockets.
