The BL 500 soft thermal base layer comes in a slim fit. This slim-fitting base layer reduces friction.

Polyamide is the strongest of all raw textile materials, even when wet, and it is very stretchy.
This breathable fibre manages moisture very well and provides good temperature regulation.
These specially textured, super-soft yarns give the fabric a silky, natural feel. Ideal for tight, seamless clothing.

Technical product structure

The I-Soft technology enhances the fabric’s performance, providing a variety of benefits: softness, warmth, and comfort. It also enhances garment performance, providing better heat regulation, humidity absorption, and thermal insulation. To achieve this softness, the base layer is brushed.

What is I-Soft technology?

The I-Band technology is an innovative design used around the waist of the I-Soft top and bottom base layers. It helps keep the garment in place so that it doesn’t ride up or fall down when skiing.

Design

To stay warm and dry, use the 2 or 3 breathable-layers rule.

To stay dry, it is important to wear waterproof pants. But you shouldn’t end up wet with perspiration.
Vents are key for wicking away perspiration.
This is why we equipped these pants with 2 ventilation zippers, two large zippers along the thighs (28 cm/11 in in size L).

A fabric’s water repellency is its ability to make water run off its surface without absorbing it. This prevents the fabric from becoming waterlogged, so that it remains light, breathable and warm. Water repellency is achieved by treating the fabric’s exterior. This treatment needs to be reapplied during the life of the garment (recommended every three washes). All Wedze jackets are treated for water repellency.

Water repellency

The resistance of a fabric is measured by the height of the water column (measured in mm) that the fabric can withstand (test based on the ISO 811 standard). The higher the pressure, the more waterproof the fabric. A component with a waterproof rating of 10,000 mm is therefore resistant to the pressure exerted by 15,000 mm of water.

To determine a fabric’s breathability, we test its evaporative resistance or RET (based on the ISO 11092 standard). A lower evaporative resistance means more perspiration can escape, increasing the fabric’s breathability.  
For example: 
RET < 9 = extremely breathable fabric 9 < RET < 12 = very breathable fabric 
12 < RET < 20 = breathable fabric 
RET > 20 = little or no breathability

The coating is like a paint applied to the inside of the fabric, making it waterproof yet breathable. It is often less expensive than a membrane and requires a liner to protect it.  A membrane, which is a very thin plastic film (polyurethane), makes the material waterproof yet breathable. Flexible, lighter, and more durable than a coating, it is often also more breathable.

The fabric, seam sealing, and composition determine a fabric’s waterproofness.
The garment undergoes shower tests.

How do we make a garment waterproof?

This garment was shower-tested under 100 L of water/m²/hour for 3 hours. 
This test reproduces the conditions of a heavy mountain storm.

In addition to breathable materials, other technical features (zippers, vents, mesh) improve the overall ventilation of our ski jackets and pants. These ventilation features regulate the temperature inside the garment and help to eliminate perspiration.

With Recco® technology, you can be located in the event of an avalanche. Anyone buried in the snow who is equipped with Recco® reflectors can be located quickly and accurately by emergency services with the Recco® tracker. Recco® reflectors are not a substitute for an avalanche beacon. Recco® technology works as an additional safeguard, increasing the chances of being found in time.
