[translation_pdp-storage-advice]

Dry thoroughly before storing.

Waterproof

15,000 mm (Schmerber) membrane, taped seams. Waterproof zipper.

Breathability

The membrane, heat pads, and ventilation help wick away perspiration.

Freedom of movement

Loose fit and stretchy fabric that moves with you.

Warmth

Glued warm pads (100 g/m² wadding) provide moderate protection where needed.

Limits snow entering

Helmet hood, storm cuffs, and a snow skirt to face the winter.

Pockets

Pockets: 2 hand pockets, 1 chest, 1 inner, 1 ski pass, 1 mesh.

Anatomic design

3D hood adjusts to go over your helmet and lets you move freely.

Ventilation

Two large vents under the arms to cool off after your runs.

Warm with breathable technology

Heat pads are positioned for good thermal protection while freeriding. This means the membrane can wick away your perspiration from a wide area. A perfect compromise between a completely padded jacket and 3-layer jacket with no extra warmth. Modularity is the key word for this jacket. It’s important to add a warmer or cooler second layer, depending on the conditions.

Additional features

Helmet hood offers maximum protection and freedom of movement. A single tightening toggle behind the head lets you adjust to three sizes in a single movement. Cinchable wrist and cuffs with thumb loops block air and snow. The snow skirt also reduces drafts and keeps snow out.

Ventilation

To stay dry, it’s important to wear a waterproof jacket. But you shouldn’t end up wet with perspiration. Vents are key for letting perspiration evaporate. That’s why this jacket has two large, zippered vents under the arms (35 cm/13.8” in size L).

Cut

The loose fit and preformed sleeves free up your movements and let you ski in complete freedom. This jacket was designed with a mechanical stretchy component. You can move freely while skiing.

Pockets

2 hand pockets with a waterproof zipper. 1 inside chest pocket with a watertight zipper. 1 outside chest pocket with a watertight zipper. 1 ski pass pocket on the left pocket with a watertight zipper. 1 easy-access inner mesh pocket.

What should you wear under your ski jacket?

To stay warm and dry, use the 3-layer rule: A ski base layer and a second layer liner jacket to retain warmth, while a third layer ski jacket protects you from bad weather. Keeps you dry by wicking perspiration from the skin to the other layers. The second layer provides warmth and can include jackets or fleece sweaters.

The third layer

This layer provides protection from the outdoor elements (snow, rain, and wind) while still letting perspiration escape so you don’t feel wet. Ideally, it should be waterproof and breathable. The third layer can also provide insulation, like lined pants or a jacket, and complements the second layer.

Water repellency

Water-repellent fabric allows water to run off its surface without seeping in. This helps the fabric stay light, breathable, and warm. Water repellency is achieved by treating the fabric’s exterior. This treatment needs to be reapplied during the life of the garment (recommended every three washes). All Wedze jackets are treated for water repellency.

Component waterproofing

A fabric’s water resistance is measured by the height of a water column in mm it can support (test based on the ISO 811 standard). The higher the pressure, the more waterproof the fabric. Fabric with a waterproof rating of 10,000 mm is resistant to the pressure exerted by a 10,000 mm column of water.

Breathability

The component of this jacket has a RET of 12. To determine a fabric’s breathability, we test its evaporative resistance or RET (based on the ISO 11092 standard). A lower evaporative resistance means more perspiration can escape, increasing the fabric’s breathability. For example: RET < 9 = extremely breathable fabric 9 < RET < 12 = very breathable fabric 12 < RET < 20 = breathable fabric RET > 20 = little or no breathability

What is a membrane or coating?

The coating is like a paint applied to the inside of the fabric, making it waterproof yet breathable. It is often less expensive than a membrane and requires a liner to protect it. A membrane, which is a very thin plastic film (polyurethane), makes the material waterproof yet breathable. Flexible, lighter, and more durable than a coating, it is often also more breathable.

How do we make a garment waterproof?

The fabric, seam sealing, and composition determine a fabric’s waterproofness. The garment undergoes shower tests.

Waterproofness/shower test

This garment was shower-tested under 100 L (26.5 gal) of water/m²/hour for 3 hours. This test reproduces the conditions of a heavy storm.

How do you make a garment breathable?

In addition to breathable materials, other technical features (zippers, vents, mesh) improve the overall ventilation of our Freeride ski jackets and pants. These ventilation features regulate the temperature inside the garment and help to eliminate perspiration.

Your product is repairable.

This product is repairable. We commit to repairing your product free of charge for the duration of the warranty. If you need the seams, zippers, or another element repaired, contact your store. If we can’t repair your product due to a production defect, you can exchange it or get a refund.

What is the Recco® system?

All our Freeride jackets and pants are equipped with the Recco® system. With Recco® technology, you can be located in the event of an avalanche. Anyone buried in the snow equipped with Recco® reflectors can be quickly and accurately located by emergency services using the Recco® tracker. Recco® reflectors are not a substitute for an avalanche beacon. Recco® technology works as an additional safeguard, increasing the chances of being found in time.

Restoring the water-repellent properties

Follow care instructions when washing to preserve all the technical features. Link: After three washes, restore the water-repellent properties with a waterproof spray or wash-in product.

The material used and the construction of the jacket are top notch. I couldn’t find a single loose thread. The taping of the seams was done exceptionally well, and it is neat and thorough. The external seams are very smooth, which helps water to run off without catching. I

placed the jacket under a running tap and the water beads off like it were a glass surface. Size M fits my 5’10”, 70kg flat body. The jacket fits tailored from shoulder to hip. I can still wear a fleece top underneath and have sufficient movement, but it does hug me. This jacket is designed long in the body and arms. I’d imagine this would fit perfectly for someone 6 feet and slender. The jacket hem, which hugs my hips, sits well below my finger tips while my arms are relaxed at my side. My primary concern is that when I sit down (on the chair lift) my hips open up and put pressure on the hem and main zipper. Essentially, the jacket hem has to slide up my hips to allow my hip to open up naturally to take a sitting position. The rear of the jacket is so long that part of it remains slightly under my bum. I suggest the jacket length should be an inch or two shorter or increase the bottom width by an inch. The sleeves are probably 2-3 inches too long. Ski jacket sleeves do need to be longer, but this is still at least 2 inches too long, leaving excess material scrunched up in the forearm and elbow area. Otherwise, they articulate well at the elbow. The hood is large and easily fits over a helmet as it is designed to do. However, that makes the hood uselessly large for use without a helmet, despite the ability to cinch it. The brim of the hood falls to the nose, covering your eyes. The inside snow skirt continues the well-fitted theme. If you have a belly, you can forget about using this. I wear 30-31” waist pants and this skirt is tight. The zippered air vents under the pit area are set slightly too far back, requiring a little stretch to reach. They can be zippered down from the biceps or up from your ribs. If you zip up beyond the middle point (your pits) they are nearly impossible to zip back as the material is too supple to support the zipper movement. The mesh goggle pocket inside should be bigger but will still do its job. It has great waterproofness, includes the Recco security patch, uses YKK zips and is constructed to excellent standards. Overall, an excellent quality jacket at a decent price. You will love it if you are tall and slender; avoid if you’re not.

I really wanted to like this jacket--it seemed well designed, well build and well priced. I am 5'8" and 150lbs and the jacket fit well in the body with just enough room to layer. When I got it home I tried it on again and realized the sleeves were way too long the sleeve ext

ended past the end of my fingers (in the store I had them velcroed up)--way too much extra fabric. I know you need at little extra sleeve length for skiing but this was way too much. Ended up returning the jacket. Oddly, the small size sleeves were a good length but the small was way too snug in the body.

Amazing harshell+ / Excellente veste coquille+
Freddy

-

: fr_CA

Jacket size XL - 6 feet 195 pds - fits perfect with room to layer. Wearing with one base layer and one mid layer. Can add at least one insulation layer if/when needed. Pros: - Hard-shell waterproofness seems to work really well (tested in snow storm not rain). La coquille se

mble tres resistante a l'eau (testee en tempete de neige, pas de pluie). - Very breathable / Tres respirante. Big plus: the underarm zips are very long and really help to evacuate heat. Les ouvertures sous les bras sont grands et permettent une tres bonne evacuationd ela chaleur. - Isolation: I was skeptical about the isolation pads vs a pure-bred shell, but since I use this jacket in winter only, it works wonder and add well needed warmth in Quebec weather while still being very breathable. Les pieces d'isolation sont vraiment bien, permettent d'etre plus au chaud pendant les hivers Quebecois, tout en restant tres respirant. - The cut of the jacket is great (longer than typical - does not restrict movement) and I love the double sided zip. La coupe est longue et ample et la fermeture a glissiere double sens est tres pratique. Cons: - Not a con, but like all Decathlon product, it has European sizing so pick 1 size up. - The outside chest pocket zip closure should be reversed (more practical). So closing going down not up. But this is a detail Conclusion: Amazing jacket, could not be more happy! And the price is just a fraction of the competition. PS: I wear this jacket as an outer layer, with the 900 Freeride Ski Down Jacket (XL) as a mid layer and the 900 Merino Wool Ski Base Layer and this is hands down the BEST combination for downhill skiing I have ever worn - I am finally dry AND warm (disclaimer: I ski mainly in glades, bumps, and/or powder when I can find it, hence sweating a fair amount during the downhill part.) PS: Skiing so far has been done in -2 to -13 degrees Celsius. Will try and update after this weekend (forecast -30 degree).

Have yet to use this but going soon and wanted a longer length jacket for when it’s snowing or raining so on lift chairs I can have I under me. Don’t know how well it will stand up to the weather. It’s not a thick thermal jacket so goes over lightweight down

Perfect jacket - Linen colour

Just got back from using this jacket for a week in Chatel, France. Had a mixture of weather conditions and used the jacket in lows of -16 with strong winds up to warm periods in bright sunshine and calm winds. I worm this with a really thin base layer and warm but lightweight

fleece. I wore the same type of thing each day no matter what the weather was. The jacket was brilliant. I was kept warm, never too hot and didn't need to open vents on the arms. The fit is great and I am on the slightly heavy side and broad at the shoulders. I had to carry lots of kids skis and the jacket never got marked up. After a weeks skiing it looks in the same condition as when it arrived. Pockets offer just enough for essentials. Initially when first trying it on I thought the hood was a bit baggy and might annoy me when not on my head however I quickly got used to it and in the end appreciated the extra room it provides to wear a necky and fleeces with high necks. It also allows you to pull the front up your face bit when it's cold on high chairlifts. The zips were all easy to use even with heavy ski gloves and overall I was very impressed. It doesn't stretch much so don't expect it to perform like some jackets that have 4 way stretch. The material is strong. I reckon this jacket would work in loads of different temperatures provided you buy it big enough to allow layering up. Lots of people in my group commented on how nice they thought the jacket looked.
