The BL 500 ski base layer has a standard straight cut that adapts to all body shapes. It’s not too loose, so it keeps in the heat effectively.

Polyester is the most commonly-used fibre for base garments because it is relatively inexpensive and offers excellent performance in various respects, and especially because the fibres can be knitted to obtain a very lightweight and durable fabric. It actively absorbs moisture but does not dry particularly well when wet.

Choosing the right sock size

The size chart for this sock is more precise than for other models in the range: 1 sock size covers 3 foot sizes instead of the usual 4. This model also offers asymmetrical feet (differentiated right and left foot) for a perfect fit.

Blisters are generally caused by socks, shoes, or foreign objects chafing feet. Humidity also plays a role, as it makes skin more vulnerable.
Chafing is reduced when socks stay in place.
Some socks have anti-friction yarn to reduce irritation.

In addition to the padding, which components provide warmth?

The membrane is a very fine component applied to the inner surface of the outer jacket fabric. This component prevents water from seeping in while wicking away perspiration. The membrane is unbeatable when it comes to keeping you warm and dry.

What is a membrane and what does it do?

A fabric’s water resistance is measured by the height of a water column in mm it can support (test based on the ISO 811 standard). The higher the pressure, the more waterproof the fabric. A component with a water resistance of 8,000 mm therefore withstands the pressure exerted by 8,000 mm of water.

How is the water resistance of a jacket measured?

The 500 jacket is made of sturdy, water-resistant materials that reduce wind chill for better protection against the elements. To check its waterproof rating, this jacket was tested under a special shower test that replicates the conditions skiers face. This jacket’s waterproofing was field-tested in various weather conditions for several days.

Which parts of the jacket protect me in bad weather?

Water repellency is a material’s ability to let water bead off the surface without being absorbed. This jacket features water-repellent components that improve its weather resistance. The exterior surface of the fabric is treated to make it water-repellent.

What is the water-repellent feature of my jacket for?

Bear in mind that the water-repellent feature can be reactivated. To do this, you can use a waterproof spray (sold in our stores): spray the product evenly over the entire item, then allow to dry for 10 to 12 hours.

How to reactivate your jacket’s water repellency

This jacket wicks moisture away. To determine a fabric’s breathability, we measure its resistance to evaporative heat (RET) based on a standardized ISO 11092 test. The lower the RET, the more breathable the fabric.The 500 ski jacket has a RET of 11. However, it is Wedze’s technical solutions (zippers, vents, mesh) that reduce condensation and maximize breathability.

What is a breathable jacket?

Slim fit. The jacket’s sides are straight rather than fitted. This jacket is roomy enough to be worn over a first and second technical layer.

How does the 500 ski jacket fit?

To stay warm and dry, we recommend using the 3-layer technique:

How to dress to stay warm on the slopes

The snow skirt adjusts automatically, and adjustable cuffs block drafts and snow, especially in the event of a fall.

* Close all the zippers on the jacket.
* Turn it inside out.
* Machine wash at 30°C on the delicate cycle with little detergent and no fabric softener. 
Important: Use a gentle/delicate spin cycle (less than 800 rpm). Spinning too fast may create clumps that are difficult to undo.

How should I wash my jacket?

Tumble dry (strongly recommended). 
* Gentle or delicate cycle. 
* Dry on several long cycles to dry completely. * If you do not have a dryer, it will take longer to dry (drying flat can take 1 to 2 weeks). Make sure you pat the jacket to avoid any lumps.
