The properties of wool

Merino sheep, originally from Spain, have been bred carefully over many generations for their wool. It provides a softer fibre than traditional wool. After shearing, the wool is cleaned to remove impurities, then carded, spun, and finally used for knitting or weaving.

The resistance of a fabric is measured by the height of a water column in mm that can be supported by the fabric (test based on the JIS 1092 standard).The higher the water pressure, the more waterproof the fabric. 
A component with an impermeability of 5,000 mm will therefore withstand the pressure exerted by 5,000 mm of water (which corresponds roughly to a 1-hour downpour). Waterproofing is expressed in Schmerber units (for example: 5,000 Schmerbers). This number applies before washing.

Component waterproofing

A coating applied to the fabric makes it waterproof and windproof. Technically, a waterproof fabric is also windproof. Protection from the wind is critical, as wind can chill the body during physical activity.

Component breathability is measured by its thermal evaporative resistance (RET). 
This allows perspiration to escape during physical activity, preventing it from accumulating on the skin. 
The lower the RET, the more breathable the fabric.

What does the UV protection do?  
It protects your eyes from UV rays.
UV radiation is present in winter and summer, in sunny and cloudy weather, and can be harmful to your eyes and eye contours.
The lenses are made of polycarbonate mixed with UV protection against the harmful rays of the sun (UVA and UVB).

Tinted lens classification based on ISO 12312-1 standard: - Category 1: lens with a light tint for reduced sunlight. - Category 2: lens with a medium tint for average sunlight. - Category 3: dark lens for strong sunlight (sea and mountains). Between 82% and 92% visible light absorbed.

Our lenses are made of polycarbonate, which is resistant to impacts but easily scratched.

Your child’s arm should bend at a 90-degree angle while holding the pole. To adjust the pole: press the metal button so the sections can slide into each other. Repeat until you get the desired size.
   

How to adjust your pole

-> The minimum setting of 75 cm (30”) is suitable for a child who is 100 cm (3’4”) tall on average.
-> The maximum setting of 100 cm (39”) is suitable for a child who is 145 cm (4’9”) tall on average.

Which size to choose for your child?

Before leaving on a hike: always check that your poles are properly assembled.
When going downhill or when the climb is very steep, you can make your poles longer.
When going downhill, remove the wrist strap so that the pole doesn’t get in your way in the event of a fall.

We spent time in the field with the design team to observe what children need when they go hiking. Many children prefer leggings because they are extremely comfortable when travelling, walking, and even sleeping! So we decided to give them a version of leggings designed for the outdoors.

Why create leggings like the MH 500?

We decided to offer a version of leggings designed for hiking. This involved replicating the comfortable stretch attributes of traditional leggings, but we combined these with a durable fabric on the seat and knees. The result was a pair of leggings designed for outdoor travel. For walking in the mountains or picnicking on a rock, without the risk of holes!
