What are the dimensions of the set?

For the perfect camp meal, we opted for 18/8 stainless steel, great for durability and food safety! But that’s not all... A double aluminium bottom boosts heat distribution. The result? A cookset that heats up faster and uses less gas.

How are the materials chosen?

To make sure your cookset delivers up meal after meal, we’ve chosen the PTFE Xylan+ coating by Whitford. This non-stick champion combines quality, durability and a smart price. With no PFOA, it’s ready to handle all your recipes. Some friendly advice? Use it with soft utensils.

What about the coating used?

Made of polypropylene, the plates and cutlery are light as a feather, but solid as a rock. With no Bisphenol A (BPA), they ensure your safety with each mouthful. But a word of advice: even though they can resist heat up to 100°C, keep them away from flames.

What about the cutlery and the bowls?

Before the first use, rinse all the items three times with clean water.
After use, wash the items with soapy (preferably hot) water and dry them before storing them in a dry place.
All items are dishwasher safe, however it is advisable to wash your saucepans and frying pans by hand (to preserve the coating). Also avoid abrasive sponges or sand when cleaning the inside of utensils.

Putting up and taking down

We recommend you use the tent with the self-inflating or trekking mattress measuring a maximum of 65 cm wide.
We do not recommend the use of inflating mattresses over 6 cm in height due to the reduction in living space and condensation resistance.

Mattress compatibility

1 upper rear air vent.
Correctly position the lateral tent pegs to maintain a space between the flysheet and the ground all around the tent. The air circulation between the bedroom and the flysheet will limit the natural phenomenon of condensation.

Ventilation

All Quechua tents are tested in the lab (whole tent under 200 L/h for 3 hours) and in the field.
(2000-mm rated PU-coated polyester flysheet, 120g/sqm polyethylene groundsheet, and all seams sealed with thermobonded tape). A breathable polyester bedroom under the fly means you aren't in contact with the condensation that forms naturally on the inside of the fly.

Waterproofing

All our tents are tested in a wind tunnel on a rotating plate to expose them on all sides. A tent set up properly with all guy ropes in the right position should be able to withstand winds of up to 40 km/h measured near ground level.

We have chosen 18/8 stainless steel for its durability, resistance to corrosion, and food safety. To make up for its low conductivity, we’ve added a double aluminium base to better distribute heat. Result + heating efficiency and - gas consumed.

What about the choice of materials?

The PTFE Xylan+ coating by Whitford was selected for its good non-stick quality/resistance/price ratio. The items are PFOA-free and are therefore suitable for cooking food. Although the items are durable, it is best to avoid using with metal utensils to preserve the coating.

What type of coating has been chosen?

The polyamide cutlery is lightweight and resistant to heat (100°C), knocks and deformation. Perfect for hiking, the cutlery is both practical and durable, and is free of Bisphenol A (BPA). However, be careful not to expose them directly to a flame to prevent them from melting

The saucepan can be used with a wood fire, gas stove or induction hob.

What you also need to know

To optimise size and reduce noise, place cutlery on lid, then place mugs and bowls inside the saucepan. The place mat locks everything together and the cover makes it easy to transport, even when it’s dirty. And there's no need for patience – it's all done in seconds!

The backpack’s water-repellent components allow you to continue walking or hiking in light rain for short periods. 
Note: This backpack is not watertight or waterproof and does not come with a rain cover.

The volume of each backpack is measured using a standardized method: the main compartment and all the pockets are filled with little balls. The balls are then emptied into a graduated container to determine the equivalent volume in litres.

How is volume measured?

- Loosen all the straps (shoulder straps, belt, load adjusters)
- Put on the backpack
- Tighten the shoulder straps
- Adjust the load adjuster straps as needed

How to adjust your backpack

Put heavy items at the bottom. Pack your clothes around these items.
Keep your waterproof jacket and/or fleece in an easy-to-access location.
Place small, frequently used items in the pockets (sunscreen, map, glasses, etc.). Place your bottles in the side pockets.

How to pack your backpack

The following components were validated in the lab: fabric, buckles, straps, foam, and zippers.   We check the resistance of the construction using a dummy that reproduces a hiker’s movements to replicate several years of wear and tear.
