Boardshorts is a term used to designate this type of swimwear used in the world of surfing and water sports.
Practical and comfortable, they are suitable for both men and women.
This type of swimwear was created in the 1950s for surfing. In more recent years, they have become a popular style of swim shorts.
The name comes from their use in aquatic board sports, like surfing.

The boardshorts in the 100 range are available in sizes S to XXL.
The 500 and 900 ranges are available in EU sizes 38, 40, 42, 44, 46 and 48.
Your body shape can influence your choice of size.
We always recommend trying on swimwear before purchase. Fasten your shorts and gradually pull them downwards. If they are easy to pull down, it means they are too big and you could be in for a few surprises once you’re in the water surrounded by waves!

How to choose the correct size of boardshorts

ELASTICATED WAISTBAND
Helps the boardshorts to fit different body shapes.
SEMI-ELASTICATED WAISTBAND
Provides a secure fit and adaptability for everyone.
FLAT WAISTBAND
Ensures the boardshorts stay in place in the waves during duck dives and wipeouts.
ANATOMIC DESIGN WAISTBAND
Combines the benefits of the elasticated waistband (adaptability to different body shapes) and the flat waistband (stability in the waves)

Waistband

When surfing, whether from duck diving or wiping out, having to readjust boardshorts that have fallen down is far from convenient... This makes choosing the right waistband essential.

Opt for a flat waistband or a waistband that adapts to your body shape for a more secure fit.

The BS900 has a flat, anti-slip drawcord that stays securely tied throughout your surfing or other water sports session.

Wave resistance

It is surely the most important criteria.  It is common for the boardshorts or its seams to chafe. Our boardshorts are designed specifically to limit chafing, a common issue for surfers.
Additionally, the boardshort 900 is constructed with heat-bonded seams; minimising chafing.

The soft Nazaré fabric reduces irritation.

In aquatic board sports like surfing, it’s particularly important to have maximum range of motion.so your boardshorts should have an ample amount of stretch.The boardshort 900 is made from ultra-stretch fabric (NAZARÉ) for total freedom of movement when taking off and manoeuvring during your surf session.

It is quite uncomfortable to feel sand sticking to your boardshorts because they are still soaked with water.
For this reason, choose a "stretch" component (fabric) which evacuates water more quickly. Fluor Free water-repellent treatment to let water drain away and speed up drying.

Quick-drying

Boardshorts length comes down to personal preference. Shorter styles, for example, provide greater freedom of movement. The average size M/L is 20 inches long (51 cm).

Length

The BS900 has a side pocket to stash a piece of wax, a sunscreen stick or other essentials for long surf sessions!  The BS900 also features an internal elastic loop that can be used to carry a mechanical key in complete safety.

The waistband has a Hegoa Peach  component on the inside (with a peach skin effect) for optimal comfort on the waist when tightening the boardshorts drawstring.

User comfort

Fly closing shape with gusset. Waistband tightly grips the waist for optimal hold. No inner seams, especially on the thighs, preventing uncomfortable friction.

Reinforced tightening tabs. Stress points reinforced by bartacks. Drawstring finished with heat shrink tubing

Resistance

During the summer, when the weather’s hot but the water’s cool, surfers tend to stay out on the water longer without changing their equipment. This increases the risk of sunburn.
Did you know? The water’s surface reflects 10%–15% of UV rays, leaving 40%–95% to penetrate to a depth of up to 25 cm. This is why boardshorts combined with sun protection (UV top, etc.) are essential equipment for surfing in water over 23°C.
