We measure the ball’s sphericity at 4,500 different points and then examine any discrepancies. 
If the discrepancy is greater than 2% (FIFA Pro Standard), our engineers work on improving the sphericity to ensure a consistent bounce.

A round ball?

We inflate the ball to the recommended pressure (11.6 psi).
The ball cannot lose more than 15% of its pressure over the next 72 hours, meaning a maximum pressure loss of 1.5 psi. The pressure after 72 hours must be approximately 10.1 psi.
This also means that it’s quite normal for a ball to lose pressure after a few days.

To simulate rainy playing conditions in a lab, we put the ball in 2 cm of water on a pivoting support and subjected it to 250 compressions.
By the end of the test, the ball must not have absorbed more than 15% of its weight. For this ball, it means a maximum of 65 g.

We’ve also tested how much water the ball absorbs.

Between 125 and 155 cm (size 5) with a maximum difference of 10 cm between the ball's highest and lowest bounce. Each ball is dropped 10 times on a steel plate from a height of 2 m.Between 115 and 155 cm (42.3' and 61.0') for size 3 and size 4 balls.

It’s all about the bounce

The most demanding test this ball undergoes is the machine shot test.
The ball must resist up to 2,500 shots against an inclined flat concrete slab at 50 km/h at a distance of 2.5 m.
At the end of the test, we check:
- The ball’s general condition: Stitching must remain intact.
- Circumference: Must not have varied by more than 1.5 cm.

- Sphericity: Must not have varied by more than 2%.
- Air pressure: Pressure loss must not exceed 15%

Introducing the Essential collection

"We wanted to create a simple product that has always been part of the sport. The goal was to take a fresh look at an object that was often taken for granted. The flat markers are used in all drills. We added a unique shape to reflect Kipsta's strong identity: even training markers can look good!"

A unique design for more practical drills

A strong visual design is important. But a reliable, safe marker is even better. So to test the durability of the Essential cones, we ran various demanding field tests. Budding soccer players had fun testing their durability by walking all over the cones!

Design and testing

The environment is something that is very close to our hearts, so we worked hard to reduce these cones’ environmental impact. In addition to optimising the consumption of materials and eliminating the packaging, these markers are produced as close as possible to our stores to reduce transport emissions: in Portugal for our European stores, and in China for our Asian stores.
The result is a 14% drop in CO2 emissions.

"When designing the Essential range, we wanted to give the products a sense of motion. That's why we added a directional aspect to each product. Dimensions and design for more effective training

Having a distinctive, recognisable shape is important. But improving at training while staying safe is our priority. This is why we've checked the durability of the agility ladder during demanding tests. We put the ladder's rungs and their unusual shape through their paces at the Kipstadium in Tourcoing to make sure they're durable and stable. The result? The ladder doesn't move or get damaged during drills.

Watching intermediate young players on the soccer field helped us understand the importance of support in a soccer sock.
These soccer socks were designed with polyester and spandex to prevent the sock from slipping around the calf. They also feature a specific knit that’s tighter around the ankle and instep.

This learning ball was designed for kids. It’s lighter than a regular soccer ball, making it easier for kids to learn to play.

Following extensive testing, this lighter ball was designed with all the technical characteristics of a regular soccer ball.
Two kilometres of thread has been wrapped around the bladder to maintain its pressure and sphericity. 

This ball is 15% lighter than a regular size 4 soccer ball. What difference does that make? Because of the ball’s lighter weight, young soccer players can kick or head the ball more comfortably. It's also easier to aim, do long passes and score goals.A guaranteed hit!
