The waterproofing of a fabric is measured in Schmerbers or mm of water (pressure of a water column). The higher this number, the more waterproof the fabric. 
This jacket is designed with a waterproof coating: this component resists 5,000 mm of water (Schmerbers) before washing (equivalent to the pressure exerted by a 5,000 mm column of water).

Water resistance of the fabric

The fabric of this jacket is water-repellent, i.e., water runs off its surface without being absorbed. This keeps the fabric from soaking up water so the jacket stays lightweight and breathable. Water repellency is achieved by treating the fabric’s exterior. The main seams are also taped.

Fabric water repellency

Our fabric is extremely breathable (RET 12). 
Breathability is measured according to the product’s thermal evaporative resistance. This refers to its capacity to release perspiration during activity. The lower the thermal evaporative resistance (RET), the higher the fabric’s breathability.

Fabric breathability

To maintain water repellency, we recommend regular reactivation.
Reactivate water repellency after three washes (remember to rinse thoroughly) or after using a dozen times in the rain.
You can reactivate the water repellency properties by warming the fabric: 
- in a dryer for 15 minutes (synthetics cycle) - with a hair dryer, held 20 cm (8”) away from the fabric, moved back and forth twice over each section 
- with an iron on the delicate setting, steam function off, two passes over each section

How to maintain the water resistance of your jacket over time

When we’re active, how much we perspire depends on the intensity and duration of the effort.If the fabric’s breathability is not right for your type of activity, sweat condenses inside the jacket.You will feel damp:This moisture is not rain soaking through the shell but condensation caused by perspiration.You need to choose your jacket according to the type of physical activity.This jacket is designed for the occasional one-day hike at a speed of 5 km/h (3 mph).

Durability

Our hiking boots offer heightened comfort. We have included various design features in these boots to take care of your feet such as the EVA foam insole (flexible thermoplastic) and heel pad.
The insoles are also removable so they can be washed.

Comfort

The sole design is the result of extensive research conducted in our labs. It is composed of a specific rubber formula that optimizes grip and traction. We are always looking for the best solution for forest and coastal walking trails.
Wearing the boots on paved roads can lead to the premature wear of your boots and cause discomfort. They are not suitable for mountain hiking.

Resistant soles for hiking trails

These shoes are somewhat breathable, but not enough to wick away all moisture. Wear them with the Hike 50 Mid Socks: these socks are made with moisture-absorbing cotton and have a reverse terry-knit structure underneath that wicks moisture away from your feet. They’re also high enough to protect your ankles. High socks reduce the chance of blisters.

To guarantee their quality, our products undergo rigorous tests. We check their resistance to pilling, discolouration and repeated washing. The resistance to wear is measured using the Martindale test that subjects a sample of fabric to repeated friction. 2-year guarantee. 

Resistance tested?

To wash your fleece without damaging it, turn it inside out before machine washing at max. 30°C. Adjust spin speed to a maximum of 1,000 rpm and avoid tumble drying to protect the fabric.
