In a single step, the probe unfolds and the sections quickly slot into each other.
The cable and the automatic locking system simplify its deployment thanks to the shouldered shaft located in the last section.

How does the probe unfold?

Once folded, the probe can be stored in a 46 cm bag:
- 6 sections measuring 43 cm each for the 240 cm format
-7 sections measuring 43 cm each for the 280 cm format.

How do you store the probe?

The diameter of the cone-shaped tip is larger than that of the probe. This makes a larger hole in order to easily penetrate the probe into the snow piled up by an avalanche.
The probe consists of 7 sections and has been designed with a 12.5 mm diameter to be stronger when probing in hard snow.

What is the diameter of the probe?

Its long foam sleeve glued to the last section makes it easier to grip, even when wearing gloves.
The synthetic handle sewn onto the cable allows you to deploy the probe quickly.

Did you know? 
It’s important to wear gloves when probing to avoid contaminating the area with odours not belonging to the victims.

Is the probe easy to grip?

A first set of markings every 5 cm and more visible markings every 50 cm allow you to identify the depth at which the victim is located.

What is the purpose of the markings on the sections?

The mountains are a wonderful adventure ground requiring a great deal of caution.
Three items are essential for locating and rescuing avalanche victims: a shovel/a probe/an avalanche transceiver.
Please note that carrying these 3 items should not give you a sense of absolute protection.

First, attach the first three hooks of the helmet holder to the carrying straps on the side of your backpack. 
Then slide the ski helmet under the ski helmet holder and attach the last hook. 
Then adjust the straps to tighten the ski helmet securely under the helmet holder.

Please note: remember to close the safety hook to avoid losing the ski helmet holder when it’s not being used to secure your helmet.

When cross-country skiing or skiing off-piste, it has been shown that wrist straps increase the risk of injury in the event of a fall.
In the event of an avalanche, the pole and its wrist strap can also act as an anchor and increase the risk of becoming buried under the snow.
To reduce these risks, we have developed a removable wrist strap that detaches in the event of a fall.

Why use a removable wrist strap?

The poles have 95 mm wide baskets for good lift on soft snow.
They are designed to improve thrust on flat terrain thanks to the softer section. This makes it easier for you to progress during your cross-country skiing approaches.

The tungsten tip allows you to sink the pole into all types of snow, even the hardest.

Product upgrade: ski skin netting

The skin is 110 mm (4.3”) wide and 185 cm (72.8”) long and is suitable for skis up to 95 mm (3.7”) underfoot for an ideal trim.
Kit supplied with cutter to trim and adjust the skins to fit the width and length of your skis.

Trimming skins

Front clip system can be used on all ski tips.
The cam lock system at the back allows for fine adjustments and excellent skin-to-ski hold.

Fastening system

Wedze backcountry ski skins are designed so you can repair them if needed. Please note that you can replace the front and rear sections of our skins. To do this, simply consult a Decathlon assistant, who’ll be able to explain what you need to do.

Repairs

It’s also possible that after several seasons of use, the glue underneath the skin has worn away (creating little glue clusters). You can find DIY glue repair kits in our stores or on our website.

To reduce the weight and make the bag more versatile, we decided to create a separate, floating lid. 
If you go out on a short excursion and you need less equipment, remember to remove the lid. 
To make it easy to remove the top of the bag, turn your bag upside down so you can access the back, then just press on the lower part (from bottom to top) of the plastic section near the metal ring.

Our product engineer chose a durable and lightweight fabric. This choice was approved after being inspected in the laboratory where we checked that the material met our technical durability requirements (machine fatigue test).

Dimensions

With Recco® technology, you can be located in the event of an avalanche. A person with RECCO® reflectors buried in snow can be quickly and accurately located by emergency services using a RECCO® tracker. It is useful at ski resorts as ski patrollers are also equipped with them. 
WARNING: Under no circumstances do RECCO® reflectors replace the use of the avalanche victim detector, shovel, probe. These three devices allow you to search for someone, or be searched for, if buried in snow.

Recco® technology helps locate you in the event of an avalanche. Anyone buried in the snow equipped with Recco® reflectors can be quickly and accurately located by emergency services using the Recco® tracker. Recco® reflectors are not a substitute for an avalanche beacon. Recco® technology works as an additional safeguard, increasing the chances of being found in time.
