To make sure you stay warm and dry, we recommend using the 3-layer rule:
- Layer 1, a base layer to keep you dry. 
- Layer 2, an insulating layer to keep you warm. 
- Layer 3, a protective layer against the elements.

How to dress your children so they stay warm on the slopes

The resistance of a fabric is measured by the height of the water column (measured in mm) that the fabric can withstand (test based on the ISO 811 standard). The higher the pressure, the more waterproof the fabric. The fabric of the Salopettes 500 has a waterproof rating of 10,000 mm, meaning it is able to withstand the pressure of 10,000 mm of water.
For skiing, we recommend fabrics with resistance between 3,000 mm and 10,000 mm.

How is fabric waterproofing measured?

To optimize your product’s performance and durability: 
*Machine wash at 30°C on a synthetics cycle. Turn the product inside out. Use a small amount of detergent. Do not use fabric softener.
*Spin between 800 and 1,200 rpm.
*Dry flat or tumble dry.
Do not dry clean. Do not place on a radiator or heat source.

To make gliding more comfortable for you, our sock has two parts: A semi-flexible component around the foot and a rigid part around the ankle.

Our hiking boots are designed to be as comfortable as possible. This hiking boot has an EVA foam midsole and insole (ethylene vinyl acetate), and the neck of the boot (top of the heel) includes synthetic foam for greater comfort.
We have also eliminated the seams in the heel area to avoid any discomfort.

How are the leather NH 500 Hiking Boots tested to guarantee comfort?

The sole design is the result of extensive research conducted in our labs. It is composed of a specific rubber formula that optimizes grip and traction. We are always looking for the best solution for forest and coastal walking trails.
Wearing the boots on paved roads can lead to the premature wear of your boots and cause discomfort. They are not suitable for mountain hiking.

How do the soles of the NH 500 Hiking Boots grip on footpaths?

These boots are somewhat breathable, but not enough to wick away all moisture. We suggest wearing them with Hike 100 low or mid-height socks. These socks are made with moisture-absorbing cotton and have a reverse terry-knit structure underneath that wicks moisture away from your feet. They’re also high enough to protect your ankles. High socks reduce the chance of blisters.

Which socks should you wear with the leather NH 500 Hiking Boots?

We made sure that your boots are waterproof by conducting laboratory tests that simulate walking with the boots half-submerged in water. We also conducted field tests to measure wear and aging. During the laboratory waterproofing test, we test three levels of waterproofing: 2,000 flexes (30-minute walk), 10,000 flexes (3-hour hike), and 30,000 flexes (6-hour hike). This model of boot has been tested for up to 30,000 flexes, which is equivalent to six hours of hiking.
