A practical and comprehensive set of accessories for all your outings

The waterproof component and the assembly prevent water from getting in. The seams are waterproof, and the zippers are also waterproof and under a protective flap. This jacket has been tested in a special shower that reproduces the conditions of the ski resorts, and in the field for several days in different weather conditions.

Highly waterproof (15,000 mm Schmerber) and tested in real-life conditions

A fabric's water-repellent property is its ability to let water slide off its surface without soaking in. The fabric doesn’t soak up water and so remains lightweight, breathable and warm. It is made from a treatment on the outside of the fabric, which must be renewed (every 3 washes).

The pants are padded with 60 g/m² insulation: just enough to keep you warm without being too thick.

Warm without compromising on breathability

The RET, or the evaporative resistance of the material (ISO 11092 standard), is 12. The lower this rating, the more water vapour generated by the body evaporates.

RET > 20 = little or no breathability.

Breathable fabric and ventilation

This is a very thin polyurethane film that makes the material waterproof while remaining breathable. More flexible, lightweight, resistant and often more breathable than coating, which is less expensive and requires a protective lining, similar to paint applied to the inside of the fabric.

Beyond the warranty period (2 years), your product will still be repairable (seams, zippers, etc.). Solutions can be offered at your nearest store.

You don't need to wear anything under these padded pants. However, in very cold weather, you can wear a breathable thermal base layer (known as a layer 1).

What to wear under ski pants

The water repellency of your pants should be reactivated regularly (every 3 washes): over time, even though they remain waterproof thanks to the component, they seem to start absorbing water. To do this, use a reactivating spray or a treatment reapplication product.

This ski base layer has a slim fit. It’s close-fitting, almost like a second skin. It doesn't constrict and reduces chafing to keep you comfortable throughout the day.

You need three technical layers to keep warm on the slopes:
- Layer 1 or second skin, to stay dry.
- Layer 2 or insulating layer, to keep the heat in. 
- Layer 3 to protect against the elements.

How to stay warm on the slopes

Yes. Thanks to its ultra-breathable design, this garment wicks perspiration away, keeping your body dry and preventing you from feeling cold due to the damp (in case of intense exertion). Its close-fitting cut also keeps you warm. For optimal comfort on the slopes, we recommend the 3-layer rule (see above).

Intensity

The BL 500 ski base layer has a standard straight cut that adapts to all body shapes. It’s not too loose, so it keeps in the heat effectively.

Polyester is the most commonly-used fibre for base garments because it is relatively inexpensive and offers excellent performance in various respects, and especially because the fibres can be knitted to obtain a very lightweight and durable fabric. It actively absorbs moisture but does not dry particularly well when wet.

Design

During intense physical exertion, dressing too warmly can actually make you feel cold. If perspiration can’t evaporate, it stays on your skin. It is therefore useful to have a midlayer jacket that you can remove in milder temperatures. It’s also important to open or close the vents to match the intensity of your physical effort—before you get too hot or cold.

Directions

To stay warm and dry, follow the 3-layer rule: 1 skiing base layer, 1 midlayer jacket to retain warmth, and 1 outer layer ski jacket to protect you from the elements.
Layer 1: keeps you dry by wicking perspiration from the skin to the other layers.
Layer 2: provides warmth and includes down jackets or fleece pullovers.

What should you wear under your ski jacket?

 The fill power is the capacity of the down to insulate by trapping a certain volume of air. Down has more fill power (a higher cuin number) and takes up more space, trapping more air and providing greater insulation.

The down’s long-lasting fill power gives it three important qualities for freeriding:
- Thermal insulation thanks to the air trapped in the down and feathers
- Ultra-lightweight, as down is lighter than synthetic wadding, while offering the same degree of warmth. 
- Ultra-compressible

The advantages of duck down and feather fill

Some tips: close all the zippers on your down jacket and put it in the washing machine (synthetic cycle at 30°C). 
Set on a gentle spin cycle: a fast spin cycle creates clumps that are difficult to break up.

How to wash your down jacket

When you take your down jacket out of the washing machine, it will look as if the down has disappeared. The best way to restore loft and fill power is to tumble it dry. Put your down jacket in the dryer with two tennis balls. Run 2–3 drying cycles.
If you do not have a tumble dryer, dry your down jacket on a drying rack, and be sure to give it a shake from time to time, to help fluff and distribute the fill.

To stay warm and dry, use the 2 or 3 breathable-layers rule.
In warmer weather, a breathable base layer provide comforts, some warmth, and good perspiration wicking.
