What is this tool for?

Positioning: 
Shift the chain onto the small chainring and sprocket or manually derail it to reduce tension and create slack.
Removal:
Use pliers if your chain has a quick link. If not, push out a rivet using the appropriate tool.

Tip:
To avoid sudden jerks, use a chain hook or manually derail the chain to release tension.

Shortening:
You can also use the tool to remove links.

Re-installing:
For safe and fast installation, use a quick link.
