What is the cut and size of this polo shirt?

We increased the MW 500 polo shirt’s fabric weight up to 235 g/m2. That’s 24% more than the model that it’s replacing. This means it will keep its shape and last for a very long time.

What is the main material of this polo shirt?

We put the MW 500 polo shirt through the machine 100 times. Every 10 washes, we measured 3 things:
- Overall deterioration of the polo shirt’s appearance: fabric, stitching, etc.
- Size stability: i.e. shrinkage wash after wash
- Colour variation

As a result, the new MW 500 polo shirt is 30% more resistant than its predecessor!

How was washing fastness tested?

It’s all in the details:
- two pearlescent white buttons 11 mm 4 holes engraved with Inesis
- reinforced topstitching at the corner of the button strip 
- slits on the side, cuffs at the bottom of the sleeves
- low hem and sleeves with double topstitching
- bias cut, tone on tone interior neckline
- discreet Decathlon Inesis branding inside the neckline

What are the product details?

Here are a few tips to make your MW 500 Golf Polo Shirt last longer:
- machine-wash at 30°C inside out and with similar colours.
- use liquid laundry detergent, as powder detergents can leave streaks on dark clothing
- spin at 800/900 rpm maximum to avoid breaking the cotton fibres

Our sizing has changed; if you purchased pants from our previous collection, here are the equivalent sizes for the 2019 collection:
S = 38 FR or 40 FR depending on your preferred fit.

After thorough testing, we opted for a cotton spandex fabric. It provides these easy-care golf shorts with style, comfort, and a perfect fit. 
The five belt loops easily fit a 4.5 cm (1 3/4”) wide belt.
The pockets feature subtle detailing,
and the lining is reinforced to resist sharp tees and divot repair tools.
The two back pockets are perfect for holding your scorecard and golf gloves.

UPF standard

All our UV-resistant T-shirts are UPF 50+, meaning they offer maximum sun protection.  Choose your sleeve length based on your activity.
That said, our line was primarily designed to meet the specific needs of surfers.

Choose your T-shirt based on the duration of your surf session: 1 hour, 2 hours, or 3 hours.

How to choose your rash guard (Part 1)

1 hour: Occasional practice. Choose either a loose fit (easy to put on, comfortable when dry) or a tight fit (comfortable when wet). Look for a loop system so you can fasten the rash guard to your shorts.
2 hours: Regular practice. A rash guard with a drawstring and seamless underarm panels will improve fit and comfort in the water.
3 hours: Intensive practice. A style with added warmth will let you stay out longer.

How to choose a UV protection T-shirt (Part 2: )

Ideal for water sports, they can be worn in or out of the water. Chlorine-resistant.

UPF (ultraviolet protection factor) is an international standard that measures  the proportion of UV rays a fabric lets through to your skin.A UPF of 50+ means that the fabric blocks at least 98% of UVB rays and 95% of UVA rays.

What does UPF 50+ mean?

This rash guard reduces chafing against your surfboard or bodyboard. Its loose fit makes it easier to put on and more comfortable when dry. Choose the fitted 100 or 500 model if you prefer comfort when wet or plan to wear it under a wetsuit. Shown to reduce chafing during 1-hour sessions. If you plan to surf for longer, our 500 UV rash guard with seamless underarm panels is a better choice.

This rash guard has a front loop that attaches to the cord of your swim shorts to keep it from riding up while you surf. Ideal for sessions of up to an hour. For more than 1 hour, we recommend choosing the 500 UV top, which also has a drawstring at the hips for better stability. A rash guard can cause irritation on the lower abdomen if it rides up.

Support and stability in waves

This rash guard is recommended for use in water temperatures of 22°C and up. Air temperature may affect this recommendation. 
Our thermal models are made of fleece, neoprene, or both. We recommend choosing a model made with neoprene if you’ll be out in conditions where the wind exceeds 15 km/h.

Warmth and wind

Our UV T-shirts meet the needs of the most demanding surfers. They’re compatible with many other water sports, including swimming, kitesurfing, windsurfing, wakeboarding, water skiing, and stand-up paddle boarding.

Suitable for multiple water sports

This top is UV-resistant, but it doesn’t provide total sun protection. Consider other factors like reflections (off water, sand, etc.), temperature, and time of day. Wearing this top is just one part of staying safe in the sun. You should also wear sunglasses and a hat or cap, apply sunscreen regularly, and drink plenty of water.

How to choose your boardshorts according to the waistband

Shorter cuts (between 14 and 17 in) give you freedom of movement and allow you to do a wide range of water sports, including surfing (for occasional sessions of less than 1 hour).
Longer cuts (between 17 and 20 in) reduce irritation from the board or wax on the thighs, and at the top of the knees when paddling. These cuts are therefore better suited to regular or even intensive surfing.

How to choose boardshorts according to length?

When surfing, whether due to duck diving or a wipeout, it’s not easy to retrieve and reposition boardshorts that have fallen down while paddling at the same time.
That’s why choosing the right waistband for your surfing swimwear is essential.
Go for an elastic or semi-elastic waistband with a drawstring that goes all the way around the waist. The 15-inch boardshort 100 has an elastic waistband with a drawstring to help hold it in place when you fall in the waves.

This is one of the most important criteria when choosing swim shorts.
It’s not uncommon for a swimsuit or boardshorts to rub and irritate the skin.
Our boardshorts are designed to minimize chafing during your time in the water.
These boardshorts feature built-in stretch-mesh briefs for an even better fit and reduced chafing.

In surfing, bodyboarding, and bodysurfing, the legs are working hard, so boardshorts need to not restrict either bending/stretching or kicking.
A two-way (2 horizontal directions) or four-way (4 horizontal and vertical directions) stretch component contributes to this freedom of movement.
A short cut (under 17 inches) also allows enhanced lower body movement and stability.

It's quite uncomfortable to feel the sand sticking to your boardshorts because they are still soaked, or worse still, to feel the fabric sticking to your skin.
To avoid this and maximize comfort when wearing a wet swimsuit, we recommend choosing swim shorts made from a synthetic fibre fabric component, like this one. Water will drain away faster and the swimsuit will dry quickly, keeping chafing at bay.

How do you measure the grip?

How to choose the right size

The top of the boot features a ridged strip that provides extra grip while you’re pulling it on.

If water gets in through the top of the boot, remove the insole, rinse out the boot, and dry thoroughly by placing it upside down over a broom handle. Dry in a well-ventilated area. Keep away from heat sources.

These briefs are designed from a single piece of fabric. The seamless technology limits chafing and irritation from uncomfortable seams. The minimal seams also make these fitness briefs thinner, making them more discreet under clothing.

What is the benefit of seamless technology for these briefs?

Designed for intensive sports use, these briefs can be washed and re-washed. We recommend washing at maximum 30°C in our laundry bag, sold separately (ref. 8505236).
Use liquid detergent, rather than powder, and avoid fabric softeners. They could damage the breathability of the fabric.
