At Decathlon, we design our flip-flops taking inspiration from the needs and requirements of surfers, so that they can suit the vast majority. Product designed in Hendaye, in the Basque Country (South-West France). The Decathlon Water Sport Center, located on the banks of the Bidassoa in Hendaye, is our global design centre. This allows us to develop products in direct contact with users and the marine environment.

Design

We designed these flip-flops for very occasional or seasonal use, for surfers who go to spots with short walking distances (less than 3 km in a day) and easy access: terrain and established paths. They’re perfect for everyone, especially for summer activities.

These flip-flops have been tested by our teams and by independent surfers in real-life conditions to guarantee their reliability.

Beginner surfers

All our rash guards are UPF 50+, meaning they offer maximum sun protection. 
The sleeve lengths vary, and they’re suitable for different water sports. That said, our line was primarily designed to meet the specific needs of surfers. 
Choose your rash guard based on the duration of your surf session: 1 hour, 2 hours, or 3 hours.

How to choose your rash guard (Part 1)

1 hour: Occasional practice. Choose either a loose fit (easy to put on, comfortable when dry) or a tight fit (comfortable when wet). Look for a loop system so you can fasten the rash guard to your shorts.
2 hours: Regular practice. A rash guard with a drawstring and seamless underarm panels will improve fit and comfort in the water.
3 hours: Intensive practice. A style with added warmth will let you stay out longer.

How to choose a UV protection T-shirt (Part 2: )

This Olaian rash guard blocks at least 98% of UVB rays and 95% of UVA rays (UPF 50+), guaranteeing effective sun protection. Ideal for water sports, they can be worn in or out of the water. UPF (ultraviolet protection factor) is an international standard that measures  the proportion of UV rays a fabric lets through to your skin.
A UPF of 50+ means that the fabric blocks at least 98% of UVB rays and 95% of UVA rays.

What does UPF 50+ mean?

This rash guard reduces chafing against your surfboard or bodyboard. Its loose fit makes it easier to put on and more comfortable when dry. Choose the fitted 100 or 500 model if you prefer comfort when wet or plan to wear it under a wetsuit. Shown to reduce chafing during 1-hour sessions. If you plan to surf for longer, our 500 UV rash guard with seamless underarm panels is a better choice.

Reduced chafing

This rash guard has a front loop that attaches to the cord of your swim shorts to keep it from riding up while you surf. Ideal for sessions of up to one hour. For longer sessions, we recommend our UV 500 top, which also has a drawstring at the hips to keep it in place. Keeps the clothing in place in waves and offers better protection.

Suitable for multiple water sports

This top is UV-resistant, but it doesn’t provide total sun protection. Consider other factors like reflections (off water, sand, etc.), temperature, and time of day. Wearing this top is just one part of staying safe in the sun. You should also wear sunglasses and a hat or cap, apply sunscreen regularly, and drink plenty of water.

Fogging is mainly due to the temperature difference between the body and the water.
As the body is warmer than the practice environment, fogging occurs on the inside of the lenses through evaporation.
As a result, every micro-drop of perspiration will stick to the inside of the goggles.

In fact, it’s a bit of luck: all these drops will eventually combine to create a film of water through which you can see clearly.

Why do my swimming goggles fog up?

The anti-fog treatment creates a microscopic film of water to allow clear vision, but its wear is accelerated by rubbing inside the lenses or over-exposure to chlorinated water. Taking care of the inside of your glasses is essential.

Over time, it is normal for the anti-fog effect to diminish. Briefly soaking the glasses in water may help in the short term, but can also accelerate the wear of the treatment. Our anti-fog marker reactivates the treatment!

The anti-fog treatment

Available in size S (children and small heads) and size L (large heads).

The watertightness of the glasses depends on the fit of the silicone skirts to the shape of the face. 
Before buying your glasses, we recommend that you carry out the "suction cup" test without the elastic band. Position the goggles over your eyes; if they hold on by themselves with a little suction, they will be watertight once in the water. This test can also identify areas of discomfort or annoyance on the face.

Size: how to choose your swimming goggles

These swimming goggles fit the morphology of your face without needing to be overly adjusted.

Goggles that are too tight can cause discomfort, leave marks, and let water seep in.

It is not necessary to press against the lenses with your hands, a light suction effect is usually enough for swimming sessions without water inlet holes.

The straps should sit 2-3 cm above your ears. This position will optimize the grip and comfort of the goggles. 

How to adjust your swimming goggles

Complies with standard: Q/BT 4734 -2023, all our swimming goggles protect against harmful UVA and UVB rays when used normally, regardless of the lens tint. 

Looking directly at the sun is dangerous and can lead to irreversible eye damage.

UV Protection

- Rinse your goggles (only if necessary) by simply dipping them in water
- Do not direct powerful jets of water at the inner surface of the lenses.
- Store the goggles in their case after each session to prevent damage to the lenses (on the inner surface to preserve the anti-fog coating and on the outer surface to prevent scratches)
- Don't expose them to temperatures of over 60°C
