Note: not suitable for walking on glaciers or in steep, snow-covered couloirs, which strictly requires mountaineering crampons.

Precautions

For improved balance, we strongly advise using a pair of hiking poles. On snowy terrain, be sure the poles have large baskets to prevent them from sinking into the snow.

This waterproof cover is designed to protect your belongings from the water, but can also protect from dust and sand.
Its taped seams and 5,000 mm H2O coating (Schmerber) help protect contents from a storm for one hour.

In what conditions should this compression bag be used?

The roll-top fastening consists of folding the top of the bag three times, then attaching it with the buckles. This system creates a waterproof barrier, prevents water from entering and allows you to compress the contents by evacuating the air. Simple and durable, it effectively protects your belongings.

These pants are designed with 3 different fabrics:
- a durable fabric (198 g/m²) on the areas that need protection from abrasion (seat, bottom of the leg at the front). This fabric is also stretchy, so you can move freely.
- a light, breathable fabric (145 g/m²) on the rest of the pants.
- a very stretchy crotch gusset.

What accessories are available for the MT 500 Hiking Pants?

These pants have water-repellent inserts (front of leg, seat) so water slides off the fabric’s surface. This product is water-repellent, not waterproof.

The water repellency prevents the pants from getting wet too quickly. However, this won’t be enough to keep you dry if you’re in steady rain. For intense rain, you will need a pair of rain pants like the MT 500 Hiking Pants (ref. 8736465).

Water repellency can be reactivated using a water-repellent spray (ref. 8800346).

Ecozen® plastic is not an insulating material. Use a specially designed insulating cover if you want to keep liquids cool in your bottle. You can put hot drinks in this bottle, but they will cool down quickly. Do not use for fatty substances such as dairy or oil. Do not put in the microwave or freezer.

The lid comes with a large handle so you can easily carry it or attach it to your backpack.

The backpack’s water-repellent components allow you to continue walking or hiking in light rain for short periods. 
Note: This backpack is not watertight or waterproof and does not come with a rain cover. 
To keep your belongings dry on longer walks or hikes, we recommend the following product: 20- to 40-L (4.4 to 8.8 gal) Hiking Backpack Rain Cover (reference 8734213), which can be viewed on our website.

Seal

The volume of each backpack uses a standardized measuring method: the main compartment and all the pockets are filled with little balls. These balls are then emptied into a graduated container to get the equivalent volume in litres.
The capacity of the main volume of this bag is 32 L (8 gal). 
We also measured the volume with the 2 side water bottle pockets, which increase the total capacity to 35 L (9 gal).

How to adjust your backpack

Place the heavy items (laptop, lunch bag, etc.) at the bottom and in the spaces provided. Pack your clothes around these items. Put small items that you frequently use (e.g., sunscreen, map, sunglasses) in the pockets. Put your water bottle(s) in the outer side pockets.
