XS Grip is a soft, very grippy rubber for good traction, especially on flat or rounded holds.


Sole

Did you know? The better a rubber’s grip, the more it wears out, especially in indoor climbing. 
This is why we have chosen to work with Vibram, a recognized specialist in the market since 1937, and have carefully selected the rubber offering the best balance between durability and grip.Our tests show that on average, rubber wears away in 6 months, on the front and/or top of the shoes. This can happen more or less quickly, depending on how you place your feet.

Wear-and-tear on the sole

To help you decide when to resole without risking damage to the shoe, our engineers have developed a wear indicator in the liner.
The wear indicator appears when 2/3 of the lining has been worn away, which will give you time to make an appointment to have your shoe resoled.

It should be noted that once resoled, your shoe will no longer have this wear indicator as it is in the original liner.

Is your sole worn out? Don't throw away your shoe. It would be a shame both ecologically and economically speaking. Visit our Decathlon stores to find out where to resole your shoe.

With your sole changed, you can continue climbing with the shoe already moulded to your feet. Warning: as soon as you see synthetic leather through the rubber, you should stop using it and get the sole repaired. If you pierce the synthetic leather, resoling will not be possible.

Resoling service

If you are new to climbing, we recommend choosing your street shoe size. The tips of your toes should touch the end of the shoe without hurting you.
If you are a climber working to improve your skills, you can buy them tighter (1/2 -1 size below normal, for example), but it's important they don't hurt, so that your foot can develop mobility, proprioception, and strength.

What shape are the First Klimb shoes?

How to maintain your First Klimb shoes

We recommend choosing the same shoe size as your everyday shoes, or 1 size larger if you want even more comfort or if you have wide feet. They should feel tight without hurting. If you are a beginner or are at an intermediate stage, it is important not to select shoes that are too tight to avoid painful feet and to allow your feet to develop their mobility, strength, and proprioception.

Insulation keeps hands warm. This polyester-based synthetic component traps more or less air according to its thickness. The thicker the insulation, the more air it contains and the warmer it is. These mittens have 200 g/m² thick insulation.

This climbing harness is a good choice to take you up your first routes as part of a group or club.

Adjustment Type

We recommend harnesses with a single tie-in for beginners as there is less risk of error when roping in. However, single tie-ins are slightly more complicated when used on climbing routes of varying lengths or when abseiling, as the tie-in involves a lot of equipment (rope, lanyards, belaying equipment). It is therefore recommend to use it primarily for big wall top roping.

What uses are a single tie-in point harness recommended for?

This harness has two wide gear loops on the sides for clipping on quickdraws, carabiners or belay gear as you progress up a route.

How many gear loops does it have?

For simplicity, this harness adapts to fit all sizes.

These pants have water-repellent inserts (front of leg, seat) so water slides off the fabric’s surface. This product is water-repellent, not waterproof.

The water repellency prevents the pants from getting wet too quickly. However, this won’t be enough to keep you dry if you’re in steady rain. For intense rain, you will need a pair of rain pants like the MT 500 Hiking Pants (ref. 8736465).

Water repellency can be reactivated using a water-repellent spray (ref. 8800346).
