Differences from the old MH 500 model

The back of this backpack has been fully reworked for greater comfort: a tight net with a frame gives you more space between your back and the bag to reduce the accumulation of moisture. The mesh net used for the back is also softer than on previous models. What’s more, this new model comes in 2 sizes, small and large. The 2 side pockets are more spacious and stretchy, and it’s easier to access a bottle on the side.

Why 2 sizes?

During several field tests with hikers of different sizes, we noticed that between 20 and 40 litres (5.3–10.5 gal.), the difference in comfort was mainly linked to the back height of the bag: people with a small frame feel better with a bag that doesn’t have a very big back, and people with a bigger frame feel more comfortable with a larger back bag. Our models come in 2 sizes to meet these requirements.

Hydration

The bag can hold a 1-litre (1 qt.), 2-litre (2 qt.), or 3-litre (3 qt.) water bladder. However, it will take up space that could be used for storing other belongings. The side pockets are designed to hold 1-litre water bottles.

Why are our rain covers orange?

The colour was chosen because it’s important to stay visible in the mountains in case of an emergency. The orange colour makes it visible from a helicopter. It’s also visible on the road when cycling.

Carry-on luggage

When you are travelling by plane, the maximum authorized carry-on luggage size is generally 55 x 35 x 25 cm (22”x 14”x 9.8”). This can vary depending on the airline. This bag can be used as carry-on luggage as long as you don’t overload the top.

How to pack your backpack

Pack sleeping gear at the bottom and heavy items closer to the back. Slide your water bladder into the special compartment. Store your waterproof jacket or fleece at the top for easy access. Put your sunscreen, map, hat, and sunglasses in the pockets. Store cereal bars or your phone in the belt pockets for quick access. The straps under the backpack can also be used to attach a compact tent.

How to adjust the backpack

1 - Loosen all the straps (shoulder straps, belt, load adjuster straps). 2 - Put the backpack on. 3 - Put the belt around your waist and tighten it. 4 - Tighten the shoulder straps. 5 - Adjust the load adjuster straps as needed.

How to care for and wash your backpack

We recommend handwashing your backpack. Use soapy, lukewarm water and focus on the areas in contact with the body (shoulder straps, back, and belt), using a brush if needed. This is the best way to maintain the fabric’s properties, particularly the waterproofing. Rinse well with lukewarm water and dry away from heating sources and sunlight. Store in a dry place.
