Purchased these trousers for my trekking trips for use as an over-trouser while walking during rain or while trekking over snow and ice (inevitable falls lead to the trekking pants getting wet). A very much needed product that I have bought and added to my trekking equipment c

ollection. Writing this review without actually using these trousers on a trek. However, will try to give an exhaustive opinion by covering various aspects. Waist Band: The pant is equipped with a 1-inch width waist elastic and also a drawstring elastic for final adjustment. The drawstring elastic can be pulled and locked with a spring operated plastic button. However, the spring button is not effective to hold the elastic drawstring. I have noticed that if the drawstring elastic is pulled too tight, it slips back through the locking mechanism. It seems I will have to put a knot on the drawstring to prevent it from slipping through the stopper . Pockets: Would have been great if the pant was equipped with pockets or may be just zippered slits to access the pockets of the inner pant. Fly zipper: Can do without pockets but a fly zipper is very much required. Every time one needs to pee, the drawstring has to be loosened and the trouser has to be lowered. Side Zippers: This is one of the biggest plus point of these trousers. Rising a little above the knees, the zippers allow the trouser to be worn of removed while wearing shoes. However, I tried wearing and removing the pant while wearing trekking shoes. It was possible at home while sitting on a chair. But on a trek, without sitting, it is a bit difficult to wear these trousers. Besides, if wearing crampons, it might not be possible. Some expensive brands therefore provide full length side zippers running all the way almost till the waist. Double Runners on Side Zippers or Velcro strap at the bottom of the pant: The presence of double zipper runners or Velcro straps at the bottom of the pant would have been very sensible. This would have allowed walking while keeping the zippers open for better air circulation and more efficient perspiration evaporation. Storage Pouch: Quite thoughtful but folding the pant into the small pouch seems almost impossible. The stiff waist elastic band and the knee length leg zippers prevent the pant from being forcibly compressed to a small volume. I fear that the zippers might get damaged if folded and pressed too hard. Rain Protection and breathability: Not tested yet but given so many positive reviews, these feature would not disappoint. Size: I have usually found Decathlon's size description a bit confusing. What you get when you buy size "M" is Waist 33" (unstretched), inseam length 31", total trouser length 42", and side zipper length 23". For a person with relatively short legs, trouser length may be a bit long. Overall, these are over-trousers are meant to be worn in certain conditions to achieve an objective which I am sure they would.
