TECHNICAL INFORMATIONS

The garment's waterproofing

This garment has been validated in a shower test under 60 L of water/m²/hour for 1 hour. This test reproduces the average conditions of a downpour. The fabric of this jacket is water repellent, i.e. water runs off its surface without being absorbed. As a result, the fabric doesn't soak up water, staying light and breathable. Fabric is made water repellent by applying a treatment to its outer surface. Waterproofed main seams.

How to maintain the impermeability of your jacket over time

Restore your jacket's DWR treatment using either a spray or wash-in treatment. We recommend doing this every three washes, or after using it in the rain a dozen times. The waterproof property is easily reactivated by warming the fabric: either in your tumble dryer or with a hair dryer, for example, for a fairly short period of time. If you wash the garment, it must be thoroughly rinsed. You will find all our advice in the care instructions

Measurement of the waterproof rating is expressed in mm or Schmerber.

The resistance of a fabric is measured by the pressure of a water column expressed in mm (test based on the ISO 811 standard). The higher the pressure, the more waterproof the fabric. A component with a 2000 mm waterproof rating can withstand the pressure of a 2000 mm column of water.

Breathability of the fabric

To find out whether a fabric is breathable, we measure its evaporative resistance (RET) using a test based on the ISO 11092 standard. The lower the fabric's resistance, the more sweat generated by physical activity can escape, and the higher the fabric's breathability.
RET < 9 = extremely breathable fabric
9 < RET < 12 = very breathable fabric
12 < RET < 20 = breathable fabric
RET > 20 = fabric with little or no breathability

Choosing your waterproof jacket based on your sport and intensity level

When doing sports, the extent to which we perspire depends on the intensity or duration of the effort. If the fabric’s breathability is not suitable for the type of activity you are doing, vapour from perspiration condenses inside the jacket. You feel damp inside the jacket: this is vapour from condensation of sweat, rather than the rain getting inside. You need to choose a rain jacket according to your type of physical activity. This jacket is designed for a two-hour hike at a pace of 5 km/hr.

Towards more environmentally friendly materials and dyeing processes

Bulk dyeing consists of incorporating the pigments during the manufacture of the yarn. This reduces the environmental impact of water-related dyeing (consumption & pollution).

To better protect your lower body from wind and downpours, we recommend the Raincut over-trousers. From 2019 onwards we will also be using a more eco-friendly dyeing process for these over-trousers!

Excellent value...gets the job done
Austin (Canada) Used for 3 to 8 weeks
used on my last backpacking trip in Oct, rained all night and on the day we left camp. I planned on using this as my backup rain jacket, but forgot my primary rain jacket. Kept me dry, I got a size up because this will act as an over coat. for the price, you cannot go wrong. the only issue I had was the venting of my sweat, because it is literally a rainproof hoodie, it kept all my sweat inside, and that is why I would use this as a backup. but it held up, and would be great if you're not hiking or doing anything that could cause you to sweat.
Great product!

Worthy
Not As I Expected
Abner (India) Used for 2 week or less
This product is only for light showers.
I used it in heavy rains while riding along with the rain trousers from decathlon, both kinda sucked after a while. The water started leaking in. It didn't even last half an hour.
If you are searching for something more durable and for heavy rains, this is not it. If you want something for light showers for occasional use then, go for it.
Thanks.
