UPF indicates degree of sun protection (Ultra Violet Protection Factor), a world-recognised standard.
It indicates how well the fabric protects, specifically how much UV it absorbs.
To be compliant, it must prevent absorption of at least 95% of UV rays. UPF 50+ means the fabric prevents absorption of at least 95% of UVA and 98% of UVB.

Still a bit too warm for summer but UV protection is more impt. Not sure if material is thinner would it still maintain its UV protection.

It's not quick dry material and the discoloration was very bad even after a few washes.
