Easy to sharpen

The knife's Scandinavian grind makes it easy to sharpen. Just place the blade flat on your sharpening support such as a steel or a stone, then, keeping the blade flat, sweep the blade down the stone along the whole length of the edge. This will help retain the initial edge for optimal cutting!

5Cr15 stainless steel

Our engineers selected the 5Cr15 stainless steel on this knife for 3 reasons:

- the steel is sufficiently strong to endure 2 hours of cutting branches or treating venison.
- the steel is soft enough to allow easy sharpening thanks to a hardness of around 56 HRC and to regain its edge in a few passes on a sharpening base
- the steel has a good resistance to corrosion due to its chemical composition.

Plastic transport sheath

For your safety, keep the knife in its case at all times once you have completed your task. And to keep you safe while you're on the move, our design team has devised a system to lock the knife in its case. To take the knife out, just press with your thumb while pulling the knife out of the sheath. To replace the knife, push it into the sheath until you hear a click.

I bought this for camping and it’s been great so far. Very sharp blade that it kept nice and secure in its locking sheath.
Budget-friendly bushcraft/camp knife

PROS:
Blade: geometry and dimensions are very good for general bushcraft and camp tasks. It's light enough that is can be easily carried. Big enough for general tasks.
Sheath: Quality material with solid retention.
Overall fit and finish are good. Grinds are even. Heat treat appears to be spot on (Used it to cut/scrape bamboo and wood without much edge wear, no edge rolls or chips). Blade coating is quite wear resistant. Came quite sharp out of the box (could slice paper). After proper sharpening on stones and strop, was able to split hair.

CONS:
Handle: ABS is a bit "squishy" and tends to flex. Harder plastic with aggressive texturing would be better. Ergonomics could be improved by changing from a rectangular cross-section to an oval one. The finger cut-out could be removed for a more grip options.
Steel: While 5Cr15 is no doubt rust/stain-resistant, tough and easy to sharpen, upgrading to, say, 8Cr13MoV would improve performance further. A carbon-steel version would be lovely especially for wood carving tasks.
Sheath: Fit between belt clip and knife handle when sheathed is too tight. Design could be changed to allow easier draw as the current arrangement is a bit awkward. Also, an ambidextrous sheath would be appreciated by lefties.
Spine: Could be ground square so that a ferrocerium rod could be used.
More colour options could be made available.

All in all, the Sika 100 is a very good bang for your buck knife. Some changes in the ergonomics and materials, while keeping the product at the same price range, would elevate it from "very-good" to "excellent".
