Reimagining our Retail Operations in the Greater Toronto Area
Decathlon Canada is evolving our retail strategy in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). The retail landscape is changing with consumers valuing variety across online and in-store formats. We are adapting our approach in key markets to deliver great value, quality gear and inspire more Canadians to enjoy the wonders of sport.
Most immediately this includes changes to our store presence in the GTA. Decathlon Canada will be closing five stores in Brampton, Burlington, Markham, Scarborough and Vaughan.
We are staying agile in our retail strategy, considering our options for quicker, more efficient service that meet our customers where they are with the products they love. This includes our recently launched same-day shipping service, where products leave our warehouse the day customers in select regions place online orders.
We are exploring wholesale opportunities with new partners while continuing to serve customers online and through 15 retail locations in Alberta, Ontario, Nova Scotia, Quebec and British Columbia. We are also considering a return to brick-and-mortar stores with a smaller footprint in the GTA.
Decathlon Canada will be supporting employees affected by the closures, and will consider all employees who want to apply for open positions in other markets. Affected stores will be closing this summer, with a final date still to be determined.
Decathlon Canada remains committed to making sport accessible to Canadians no matter where they live, and looks forward to sharing more about our retail evolution in the years to come.
