to keep your hair from coming in between your swims. Mesh caps are of similar material to that of your swimsuit and do not provide for water tightness but at the same time mesh caps are the most comfortable once. Alternatively I suggest if you're looking for more water tightness and compact fitting to go for silicon caps, but these also do not provide for 100% water tightness as water enters through the gap between the cap and your ears.
