TECHNICAL INFORMATIONS

Waterproofing 1/2

We measure the water resistance of a fabric in mm (based on the ISO 811 standard). The higher the water pressure a fabric can withstand, the more waterproof it is.
The jacket’s material
is water-resistant to 2,000 mm after aging (5 washes), which is equal to 2,000 Schmerber (the average pressure exerted during rainfall).
This jacket was tested in 2 h of moderate rain (60 L/m²/h).

Waterproofing 2/2

High collar.
Plastic-moulded zippers to prevent salt oxidation.
Materials are water-repellent (water runs off).
Seams are fully taped.
The front zip is protected by a storm flap and drainage channel.

Hood

The hood is attached and doesn’t stow into the collar.
Height- and depth-adjustable.
The hood visor and headband provide good coverage and a better hold.
The high collar protects your neck.

Pockets

Features 2 front zip pockets
and 1 inner chest pocket with a rip-tab.

Front zipper

A full-length zipper with an inner storm flap protects you from wind and water.
A soft flap on the top of the collar shields your chin.

Breathability

To find out if a fabric is breathable, we measure its resistance to evaporative heat transfer (RET). The lower the RET, the easier it is for water vapour generated during physical exertion to pass through the fabric.
For example:
RET < 9 = very breathable;
RET 9–12 = breathable.
The RET of this sailing jacket is 12.

Water repellency

Water slides off the jacket’s surface without seeping in.
The material stays lightweight and breathable. The water-repellent coating applied to the jacket’s exterior may break down over time.
You can restore the water-repellent properties by putting the jacket in a dryer for 10 minutes on the lowest temperature.

How to wash your jacket

To maintain the water-repellent properties, infrequent washing is recommended.
Close all zippers and flaps, empty all pockets, and turn the jacket inside out. Wash it on the synthetics cycle at 30°C or 40°C with your usual detergent. Do not use fabric conditioner or bleach, as these could damage the water-repellent coating. Very important: Run a full rinse cycle or extra rinse.

How to restore the jacket’s water repellency

Drying is a crucial phase in restoring the water-repellent treatment.
We recommend that you lay your jacket flat on a clothes rack to dry. Caution: Never dry your jacket directly on a radiator.
Next, put your jacket in the dryer and run a short synthetics cycle (10–15 min.) before turning it right-side-out. Caution: Do not over-dry.

As a regular dog walker in the UK, I am always after the perfect jacket! I have to say this comes pretty close. Lightweight but well made, double seams, totally waterproof, the rain rain just runs off.

I bought a few items at the same time and the coat was the only one that fit. I bought all items in the same size but the other 3 items were too small. The coat fit’s well. Slightly big in size but I like that. Very happy with the quality and fit. As for the waterproof aspect, it does very well in the rain, it can be a bit sweaty but that’s expected.
