What type of fill is used for warmth?

Recognized for their excellent thermal insulation, down and feathers also offer an excellent warmth to weight ratio and compressibility. The warmth comes from the weight of the down/feathers combined with the jacket’s fill power. This helps to trap air and insulate you from the cold. (Fill: 75% down and 25% feathers in the body, recycled 200 g/m2 padding on the shoulders).

Which components are added to increase the fill’s warmth?

In addition to your jacket's lining, the adjustable cuffs, snow skirt, waterproof zippers, high collar, and hood adjustments conserve heat and prevent cold air from getting in.

What is a membrane and what's it for?

The membrane is a very thin component applied to the inner surface of the outer fabric. This hydrophilic component prevents water from seeping in while wicking away perspiration. The membrane is unbeatable when it comes to staying warm and dry.

How is the water resistance measured?

The resistance of a fabric to water pressure is expressed in terms of the height in mm of a water column (test based on the ISO 811 standard). The higher the pressure, the more the fabric is waterproof. Waterproof material with a rating of 10,000 mm withstands the pressure exerted by a 10,000 mm column of water, roughly equivalent to a two-hour shower.

Which parts of the jacket protect me from bad weather?

The 900 jacket is made of sturdy, water-resistant materials that that reduce wind chill for better protection against the elements (rain, snow, wind, etc.). To verify its waterproofness, this jacket was subjected to a special shower that reproduces ski conditions. The waterproofness of this product was field-tested in various weather conditions over several days.

What is the water repellent feature of my jacket for?

Water repellency is a material’s ability to shed water without absorbing it. This jacket’s water repellent materials extend its weather resistance. The fabric is made water-repellent by treating its outer surface. However, this property may deteriorate with use.

How to reactivate the water repellency of your jacket

Remember, water-repellency can be restored. To do this, you can use a waterproof spray (sold in our stores): spray evenly over the entire garment, then allow to dry for 10 to 12 hours.

What is a "breathable" jacket?

This jacket lets perspiration escape. To see if a fabric is breathable, we measure its resistance to evaporative heat (RET) in a standardized ISO 11092 test. The lower the RET, the more breathable the fabric. The 900 jacket has an RET of 12. However, Wed’ze’s technical solutions (zippers, vents, mesh) limit the condensation inside the garment and maximize breathability.

What is the fit of the 900 jacket?

Regular fit. The jacket’s sides fall straight and remain parallel rather than trying to follow the shape of the bust. This jacket is roomy enough to be worn over a first and second technical layer.

How to dress to stay warm on the slopes

To make sure you stay warm and dry, we recommend using the 3-technical-layer rule:
- Layer 1, a second skin, to stay dry.
- Layer 2, the insulating layer, to keep heat in.
- Layer 3, the protective layer, to protect against bad weather.
Because the 900 jacket is very warm, you should only wear it with a second layer in extremely cold conditions.

Preventing snow from getting in during falls

The snow skirt is a protection system at waist level that closes with snaps at the bottom of a ski or snowboard jacket. The automatic snow skirt and adjustable cuffs keep snow and air out while skiing and, especially, in case of a fall.

How to wash my jacket

* Wash the jacket inside-out
* Machine wash at 30°, on delicate cycle with minimal detergent and no fabric softener.
* Put two clean (ideally white), tennis balls in the drum of the washer.
* Perform a second or third rinse cycle to eliminate any remaining laundry detergent.

How to dry my jacket

Tumble dry (strongly recommended)
* Use a gentle or delicate cycle.
* Warning: make sure to select a gentle spin cycle.
* Dry on several long cycles to dry completely.
* Between 2 cycles, shake the down to break up any clumps that formed during washing.
If you do not have a tumble dryer, the process is longer. (drying can take 1 to 2 weeks on a dry and flat surface). Pat the jacket to avoid clumps (at least 4–5 times)

Where do the feathers come from?

Our traceability system guarantees the origin of the feathers in accordance with our commitment to using responsible materials. Our suppliers are committed to using only feathers that come from ducks that are raised for their meat and plucked after slaughter.

Good lightweight yet very warm coat
Helen (United Kingdom) Used for 3 to 8 weeks
Just what I needed, a lightweight, warm, rain proof (heavy rain I'd wear my fully waterproof gortex) jacket.
The pockets are well placed and good size. I don't wear it for skiing but hill walking and beer Gardens.
Definitely worth the money!
Rute (United Kingdom) Used for 2 week or less
I know you look at the price and you don't really want to expend so much money on a coat but don't think twice just buy it! I been chasing a coat like this for years, keeps you so hot is amazing!
