How can I be sure that my jacket is strong and durable?

We take particular care in choosing all product components to ensure they are as durable as possible for snowboarding.

Our products’ environmental impact

The environmental impact of the product is calculated over its entire life cycle and using various indicators. An ABCDE rating shows the environmental impact of a product. Put forward by ADEME, it takes into account production, transportation, usage, and waste generated at the end of a product’s life. Decathlon displays this information voluntarily to help you identify products with lower environmental impact.

A Waxé component to stand out from other boarders

The main component of the jacket is called Waxé. Like denim, this component wears over time depending on how you use it. This jacket will help you stand out on the slopes. The colour and wear of the new component may vary from the image.

This product is as versatile as it is practical.

This jacket was designed and created by and for snowboarders. In addition to the lines and backpack components designed for durability, we designed an automatic adjustment system for your gloves. You will no longer need to keep tightening your cuffs, and no more cold snow will stop the hoop and loop tabs from closing. Finally, the inside of the jacket has comfortable and breathable 3D mesh.

How can I be sure my jacket will give me proper protection in bad weather?

This jacket was designed to keep the water out and reduce wind chill. The waterproof rating is measured by placing the product in a special shower that replicates real-life conditions. Finally, we spent a few days snowboarding, in all conditions, to validate the product’s waterproofing.

Water often gets in through the seams. Does my jacket have taped seams?

The waterproof fabric is enhanced with taped seams. Waterproof adhesive strips taped to the inside seams make this product fully watertight. All the product’s seams are taped.

Why is my jacket water repellent?

The water-repellent feature makes water run off the fabric without seeping in because of a treatment applied to the outer surface. The fabric does not soak up water and stays light and warm. This treatment must be renewed over the life of the product, after 2 or 3 washes on average. All the waterproof jackets we design for snowboarders are water repellent.

What is a membrane and what’s it for?

A membrane is a very thin component (between 5 and 25 micrometres) applied to the internal surface of a textile base to ensure excellent waterproofing and breathability. Our membrane components prevent water from penetrating while allowing perspiration to escape.

How will my jacket keep me warm?

To keep you warm, we use wadding insulation. Wadding is a synthetic component made from polyester that stores air depending on the length of the fibres. Wadding can be standard, hi-tech, or silicone-coated, and each type has different properties (warmth, low weight, elasticity, etc.).

How should I dress to avoid getting cold in the mountains?

To keep warm and dry, we recommend using the three-layer rule. The principle is simple: wear three layers of clothing, each of which has a specific function. Your base layer should produce and retain warmth. Your hoodie or sweatshirt keeps you warm, and the jacket protects you from the weather. All these layers should be breathable to wick away moisture.

How can I avoid getting snow in my jacket?

Our jackets have elastic snow skirts that can be adjusted at the waist. The seal keeps the snow out if you fall or ski in fresh snow.

How do I look after my product?

To optimize your product’s performance and durability, we recommend: Machine wash separately at 30°C. Synthetic cycle. Turn the product inside out. Use a small amount of detergent. Do not use fabric softener.
Wring by hand. Dry on a hanger in a warm, well-ventilated place. Do not dry clean. Do not place on a radiator. You can restore the water resistance of the outer fabric using a fabric waterproofing spray. Read the care label.

Why is the waterproofing value online different from the one on the jacket?

This jacket was designed with a membrane that ensures waterproofing of 20,000 mm when you buy it. After each wash, the membrane becomes less efficient, which is why the product was also tested to guarantee optimal waterproofing even after 5 washes. It’s the value after 5 washes that is printed inside the jacket, so the information remains true even if you resell your product.
