We take particular care in choosing all product components to ensure they are as durable as possible for snowboarding.
Our products' environmental impact
The product's environmental footprint is calculated over its entire lifespan using various indicators. An ABCDE rating shows the environmental impact of a product. Put forward by ADEME, it takes into account production, transportation, usage, and waste generated at the end of a product’s life.Decathlon displays this information voluntarily to help you identify products with lower environmental impact.
A Waxé component to stand out from other boarders
The main component of the jacket is called Waxé. Like denim, this component wears over time depending on how you use it. Your jacket highlights your style and lets you stand out. The new component can also have an appearance and wear that is different to the photo shown.
A versatile and clever product.
This jacket was designed and co-created by and for passionate snowboarders. In addition to the lines and rucksack components designed for a more durable product, we have designed an automatic adjustment system for your mittens or gloves. You will no longer need to spend time tightening your cuffs, and there will be no more cold snow stopping the velcro from closing. Finally, the inside of the jacket has breathable 3D mesh and is very comfortable.
How can I be sure my jacket will protect me in bad weather?
To tackle bad weather, the jacket was developed with a component and assembly that prevents water from penetrating and reduces wind chill. The waterproof rating is measured by replicating real-life conditions. Finally, we spent a few days snowboarding, in all conditions, to validate the product’s waterproofing.
Water often gets in through the seams. Does my jacket have taped seams?
In addition to the waterproof fabric, we reinforce the waterproofing of the bib with taped seams. These are waterproof adhesive strips taped to the inside seams of the garment to make it perfectly watertight. All the product's seams are taped.
Why is my jacket water repellent?
A treatment applied to the fabric’s outer surface makes water run off it without penetrating. The fabric does not soak up water and stays light and warm. This treatment must be reapplied throughout the product’s lifespan, after 2 to 3 washes on average, using the products available in our stores. All the waterproof jackets that we design for boarders are water repellent.
What is a membrane and what's it for?
A membrane is a very thin component (between 5 and 25 micrometres) applied to the internal surface of a textile base to ensure excellent waterproofing and breathability. Our membrane components do not let water in and allow out the water vapour generated by your body when snowboarding.
How does my jacket keep me warm?
To keep you warm, we use a faux-feather wadding insulation. Wadding is a synthetic component made from polyester that stores more or less air, depending on the length of the fibres. There are standard, technical and silicon coated waddings that have distinct properties (warmth, lightweight, elasticity...). We use 100% recycled wadding to reduce the environmental impact of the product.
How should you dress to avoid feeling cold on the slopes?
To keep warm and dry, we recommend using the 3-layer rule. The principle is simple: wear 3 layers of clothing, each with a specific function. The underlayer must produce and retain warmth. Your hoodie or sweatshirt keeps you warm and the jacket protects you from the weather. Layers should all be breathable to evacuate humidity.
How can you stop snow from getting into your jacket?
Our jackets have elastic snow skirts that can be adjusted at the waist. If you fall or ski in fresh snow, the seal keeps the snow out.
How do I look after my product?
To optimize your product’s performance and durability, we recommend: Machine wash separately at 30°C. Synthetic cycle. Turn the product inside out. Use a small amount of detergent. No softener. We recommend wringing it by hand. Dry on a hanger in a warm, well-ventilated place. Do not dry clean. Do not place on a radiator. You can restore the water resistance of the outer fabric using a fabric waterproofing spray. Read the care label.
