Plastic parts were/are hard to insert into aluminum shafts. Not a showstopper but could result in a cut if hands slip. Hard for an adult male not sure an adolescent could do so.

Compact and easy to travel with. Would be nice to be extendable for longer length. And have splash guards at the paddle. It gets to be a bit of a wet ride.

They work great. Assembles in seconds. To consider that this paddle is a feathered paddle so the blades are at an angle to each other rather than straight. Meaning you have to twist one of your wrists while you are paddling, this is how this type of paddles work. Fit

We found this paddle a bit short. It doesn't have a lot of clearance. We hit the side of the kayak more than we would like. I would suggest a longer paddle
