Hold the poles with your arms bent at a right angle. To adjust them: unscrew the middle section beneath the ring of the lower section, adjust to desired height (in cm), and screw back on firmly but not too tight. Do the same thing with the lower section. NEVER GO OVER THE "STOP LINE", or the pole may break during use.

How do you adjust your walking poles?

Before leaving: always check that your poles are properly tightened.
When going downhill or when pushing hard in the mountains, for example, you can adjust your poles to make them longer. 
When climbing, use the wrist strap for support. When going downhill, you should remove the wrist strap so that the pole does not get in your way in the event of a fall.

Our model comes with a detachable front pocket. Depending on your body shape, it can be really useful to move your pocket to the front using the rip tab to make it accessible. Plus, it won’t annoy you on the sides when hiking.

Waterproofing

When you are travelling by plane, the authorized carry-on luggage size is 55 x 35 x 25 cm maximum. This can vary depending on the airline. 
This bag can be used as carry-on luggage as long as you don’t load the top too much.

1 - Loosen all the straps (shoulder straps, belt, load adjuster straps). 
2 - Put the backpack on. 
3 - As this bag is small in volume, put the belt around the waist and tighten it. 
4 - Tighten the shoulder straps.

How to adjust the backpack



Put your bedding at the bottom. Place heavy equipment against your back. Pack your clothes around these items. Keep a waterproof and/or fleece jacket at hand. Place small frequently used items in the pockets (sunscreen, map, glasses, etc.). The water bladder can be placed in the compartment generally provided down the back.

How to pack a backpack

We recommend handwashing your backpack. Use soapy, lukewarm water and focus on the areas in contact with the body (shoulder straps, back, and belt), using a brush if needed. 
This is the best way to maintain the fabric’s properties, particularly the waterproofing. 
Rinse well with lukewarm water and dry away from heating sources and sunlight. Store in a dry place.

This pole is for occasional hikers who want to keep their balance during excursions on rough terrain.

This model was designed and validated by our Mont Blanc team.
This model uses the chassis of the A 100 Hiking Pole, which we reinforced for the mountains!
It is equipped with the same pushpin adjustment system and oversized tubes. However, it can be set higher (130 cm) and comes with an adjustable, supportive wrist strap, an elongated foam handle for multi-position grip, and a tungsten carbide tip for rocky terrain.

Design

When gripping the pole, your arm should bend at a 90-degree angle.
Method: - pull the lower part until the pushpin locks (metal lower button) 
- slide the middle tube until the upper button reaches the desired hole
 - use the lines printed on the tubes to align the pushpin with the holes
Never go past the Stop line or the pole could break.

How to adjust poles to the correct length

This hiking pole is designed to help you balance, propel yourself forward, and reduce impact on arms and legs.
For safety, make sure your pole is locked in place with a few firm taps, both before you leave and at regular intervals. Do not attach to your backpack, as this can be hazardous in the event of a storm.Some users are sensitive to the whistling noise that can occur when the wind sweeps through the adjustment holes.

Directions for use

Proper maintenance of your pole will ensure best performance and long life.
If the pole gets soaked, take off the cords and allow them to dry. Clean with water or a dry brush. Re-attach the cords when dry.
Do not use oil or grease on the mechanism.

Care instructions

Decathlon sells hiking and trekking poles individually. This is because they are used in different ways. Some people prefer to use only one pole. For users who prefer to use a pair, they can replace one broken pole without having to buy a new pair.

Before leaving on a hike: always check that your poles are properly assembled.

The pole’s durability was also tested on 550-km test missions on the Canary Islands and in the Pyrenees (GR10).

You go hiking to enjoy a break from civilization and get out in nature. You may carry your belongings for several days. That’s why you need a reliable pole.
We selected wider tubes in the highest grade aluminum. We secured the pushpin area with internal reinforcement. Compression test results (pressure on the pole axis) show that this model can support 560 N (~56 kg) per pole.

Why did we work so hard on durability?

Before you begin your hike, you might have to travel by bus or plane. You’ll also have to carry all your equipment in your bag. Compact poles are easy to pack. When collapsed, this pole can fit in the side pocket of a hiking backpack.

Why focus on making it compact?

We chose EVA foam, a soft material that’s resistant to perspiration and doesn’t tear easily.
We added a long grip below the handle for a lower hold when walking uphill and on banking terrain.
The knob is the most comfortable in the product line, with its elongated round shape and soft material. It is easily gripped from above.
The wrist strap is not too thick and has fewer seams, to prevent blisters.

How was the handle designed?

Using the pole: Extend the pole until the pushpin clicks. Refer to the instructions attached to the pole.
To adjust the length: While holding the grip of your pole, your arm should bend at a 90-degree angle. 
- open the outer lever
- slide the tube to the desired length
- close the lever
Never go past the Stop line, which could cause the pole to break.

How to adjust your poles to the correct length

This hiking pole is designed to help you balance, propel yourself, and distribute weight between arms and legs.
To be on the safe side, check before you set off and at regular intervals that your pole is locked in place by simulating heavy bumps. If you notice that your pole keeps sliding out of place, the locking mechanism turn ring needs adjusting. Open the lever and turn the knob a quarter to a half turn.
Do not put it on your backpack in case of a storm.

Directions

Proper maintenance of your pole will ensure that it functions optimally and that it lasts longer.
After use, if water has penetrated the pole, remove the strands and allow them to dry. If necessary, clean the dust or mud with water or a dry brush. Once dry, you can reassemble the strands.

Warming

The flotation of the snowshoe in powder snow varies according to your weight. You must therefore choose your snowshoes according to your weight. Warning, the size is provided as a rough guide, it may vary according to the type of boot worn.

How to use the SH 100 Easy Snowshoes

Choose snowshoes based on the wearer’s weight (including the weight of their backpack) so they remain on the surface of the snow. This is known as lift. Different snowshoe sizes are available for various user weights and hiking practices.
Our advice for the SH 100 Easy Snowshoes: 

40 to 75 kg (88–165 lb.): medium deck, size M.
60 to 90 kg (132–198 lb.): large deck, size L.

SH 100 Easy Snowshoe dimensions

We strongly recommend that you use poles for better stability when snowshoeing, especially if you intend to walk on slopes (uphill, downhill, etc.) or on powder snow with more give. There are 2 types of baskets. Choose large baskets so the poles remain on the surface.

Using poles for increased stability when snowshoeing:

We tend to overdress when hiking in the snow because of the cold. However, once you get moving you will warm up very quickly.
Use the 3 layer technique. 
This technique lets you stay comfortable whatever your level of intensity: remove clothing when it is warm, and put it back on when it is colder or during breaks. If you are too hot, you will sweat more, which will cool you down during breaks or when hiking downhill.

Choose breathable clothing for snowshoeing:

Whatever your cold-weather activity, use the three-layer technique:
Layer 1: A high-tech base layer to wick moisture away from the body and keep your skin dry.
Layer 2: A fleece or sweater to provide warmth and transfer moisture outward.
Layer 3: A jacket to protect against the elements (rain, snow, and wind). 
To eliminate moisture, the whole outfit must be breathable.

Dress using the three-layer technique

For snowshoeing, you need warm, waterproof, and breathable high-top hiking shoes. Choose shoes with good grip for areas where you will remove your snowshoes (in the parking lot or if there is not enough snow).
