All Wedze gloves and mittens have a water-repellent treatment that makes water slide across the fabric’s surface instead of being absorbed. This means the fabric does not become saturated. It remains light and warm. A treatment applied to the outer surface makes the fabric water repellent. To remain effective, this treatment must be renewed every 2 to 3 washes with specific products that are available in our stores.

The mitten’s waterproof membrane consists of a very thin polymer film placed between the lining and the part of the glove in contact with the environment. This membrane acts as a barrier to make the product waterproof. The product’s exterior materials are also treated for water repellency. Only a rubber-type glove is watertight. Under extremely wet conditions, a glove with a membrane will have limited waterproofness.

Thermal insulation will keep your young skiers at just the right temperature. This garment adapts to the body’s movements and to the outside environment. Wedze uses wadding for insulation to keep the body warm. 
Wadding is a synthetic component made from polyester that stores more or less air, depending on the length of the fibres. The thicker the wadding, the more air it contains and the warmer it is.

Thermal insulation

The membrane is a very thin component applied to the inner surface of the outer fabric. This component prevents moisture from seeping in (snow, rain, etc.) while allowing perspiration to escape.

In addition to waterproof fabric, taped seams make these pants even more watertight. Waterproof adhesive strips taped to the inside seams make these pants fully watertight. These taped seams are in the areas most exposed to snow. On these pants, this means the seat.

How will these gloves keep my child’s hands warm?

Fleece is designed to trap air thanks to the volume created by its texture. This air acts as a natural insulator, keeping the body warm. It is the brushing of the knit fabric that traps the air.

How does the fleece protect from the cold?

In the same way that wearing several layers of clothing keeps you warm when hiking, you can wear liner gloves under your gloves to keep your hands warm. This multi-layer system creates air pockets around your hands, efficiently insulating them from the cold.
Remember to wear large enough gloves so your fingers do not become constricted. Compression reduces blood circulation and can make your hands colder.

How to effectively protect your hands from the cold

When active, your body generates heat that’s trapped by your clothing’s thermal insulation. If the clothing is inadequate, your body cools and the blood flow to the hands and feet drops in order to keep your upper body warm. Your outfit therefore has a role to play in keeping your hands as warm as possible.
If you’re unsure about size, it’s always better to choose a pair of gloves that are slightly too big.

How to keep your hands warm with the right clothing

If this happens then dry them in a dry place but avoid placing them on a heat source. Heat can damage the fabric and cause them to lose their shape.

We recommend the three-layer technique.
