Waterproofing
The component isn’t the only thing that makes these pants waterproof: the assembly also makes a difference. The overall waterproof properties of your rain pants are measured with a shower test developed by Decathlon that simulates rain of varying intensity. The Raincut Waterproof Rain Pants protect you from small showers equivalent to 6 cm (2.4”) of rain in 1 hour.
Performance in the rain
To maintain water repellency, we recommend regular reactivation. Reactivate water repellency after three washes (remember to rinse thoroughly) or after using a dozen times in the rain. You can easily reactivate water repellency by warming the fabric: - in a dryer for 15 minutes (synthetics cycle) - with a hair dryer, moving back and forth from a distance of 20 cm (8”), twice - with an iron on the delicate setting and with the steam function off
Fabric breathability
The fabric is breathable: RET = 12. Component breathability is measured by thermal evaporative resistance (RET). RET refers to a fabric’s capacity to let perspiration evaporate. The lower the RET, the more breathable the fabric. RET ≤ 6: very breathable fabric RET ≤ 12: breathable fabric RET ≤ 20: little or no breathability
Choosing waterproof rain pants based on physical effort
This product is designed for hikes lasting several hours while walking at a pace of no more than 5 km/h (3 mph). How much you perspire depends on the intensity and duration of your activity.If the fabric isn’t breathable enough for the type of exercise, your perspiration will condense inside the item.The jacket will feel damp inside.This dampness is not rain soaking through the shell but condensation caused by perspiration.This means you need to choose rain pants suitable for your activity.

I could not be more happy with these pants! They were exactly what I needed for a hike in the Rockies that included lots of snow to heavy rain and then some sun. The pants repelled rain but did get wet during prolonged and heavy rainfall. They did dry quickly after the rain st
opped and I appreciated the venting when it got warm! A perfect all season pant that you could layer in colder weather. The fit was perfect and comfortable. I am only 5’1” and the length worked for me too. Highly highly recommend.
