What is Resort Touring
Resort Touring is our definition of touring skiing in ski resorts. Use the routes and circuits that are marked out by the ski resorts for going up the mountain and come back down comfortably using the groomed ski slopes. This practice provides an introduction to ski touring and an understanding of the basic techniques of the sport. It is also useful for sportsmen and women who need a set training piste or route for improving without a problem.
Pack
The XLD 500 RT pair of skis is available in a pack with Tyrolia Ambition 12 bindings and ski skins. The binding is fitted to a rail for adjusting its length. They can, therefore, fit as many foot sizes as possible. The plate is assembled at the waist to fit all skiers. This assembly enables you to lend your skis, change the size of boots, etc... It is a huge advantage to easily discover ski touring.
Skins
The skins provided with the XLD 500 RT skis are sized and cut to the size and width of the ski. They are made of 70% mohair and 30% synthetic materials – the ideal compromise in terms of gliding performance (when climbing in order to save energy) and grip (when climbing in order to reduce the backslide effect). The skins are all fitted with a metal loop to fit most ski tips and an adjustable camlock on the back to fit the skin to the back of the ski.

What is camber?
When placing a ski on the ground, its points of contact are found near the nose and tail, whereas the middle of the ski (under the bindings) is slightly raised (this is the camber). The longer and higher the camber, the greater the edge grip and more responsive the ski. The lower the camber, the more forgiving the ski and the better the handling it has.
Camber
The XLD 500 RT has a medium camber – good compromise between handling and edge grip.
What is rocker?
On a "rocker" ski, the tip – and, sometimes, the tail – comes off the ground much sooner than with a cambered ski without a rocker. This shifts the points of contact towards the centre of the ski. The surface of the ski in contact with the snow is smaller: this makes the ski easier to handle and more buoyant on soft snow. When taking corners, the edge length offers more edge grip on hard snow. The longer the rocker, the more manageable your ski.
Rocker
The XLD 500 RT has a front and rear rocker (tip and tail), which provides good handling and makes it easy to turn on all types of snow. On groomed slopes, this small rocker makes it very easy to effortlessly turn the skis.
What are ski sidecuts?
The sidecuts have 3 sides, the width of the tip (front of ski), the waist (middle of ski) and the tail (back of ski). The wider the tip, the easier it is to enter turns. The slimmer the waist, the more grippy the ski is on hard snow. The wider the waist, the more comfortable and stable the ski is in changing snow conditions. The wider the tail, the more involved the ski is in turns. The slimmer the tail, the easier it slides.

Très satisfait de pouvoir faire de la Rando en station à si faible coût. L’ensemble rend l’expérience de Rando très acceptable et agréable même. La seconde belle surprise? La descente en ski alpin sur pistes débutant et intermédiaire. La qualité de carving est étonnante. Ces s

Pack correct pour débuter

Je me suis équipé de ce modèle pour débuter en ski de rando. C'est pas mal pour découvrir en bord de piste à la montée. EN descente le ski est bien sur la piste mais limité en ski de rando hors piste Ok pour débuter mais plafonne vite après car lourd pour enchainer le D+
et manque de portance en poudreuse. Après il n'est pas recommandé pour cela donc c'est normal

Acheté pour remplacer mes Dynastar Altitrail. Et éventuellement, aussi, mes vieux skis piste, puisque c'est ce qui m'avait attiré dans la description : un ski qui fait rando et piste ! Et franchement, un pack à 400€ comprenant skis, peaux et fixations, il fallait que j'essaie.
Verdict après quelques utilisations. Ce que je remarque d'entrée, c'est le poids ! Deux fois plus lourds que mes Altitrail, pourtant doté de fixations du même type (des Diamir). A la montée, ça se sent, il faut bien remettre les cuisses en route !! Sinon, les fixations sont très faciles à régler, et à passer en mode montée / descente. Les lignes de cotes ne sont pas non plus très serrées, donc dans les dévers ça ne passe pas trop mal. Avec d'autres skis, on a juste le patin et le talon qui touchent... A la descente, du fait de ces cotes pas très "poudreuse", ils ne sont pas aussi faciles en neige profonde que des skis plus larges. Pour une descente sur piste, par contre, ça tourne tout seul. Mais ils manquent de "grip", un peu trop souples et carres pas assez affutées. Sur neige dure, c'est un peu juste. En conclusion, des skis polyvalents, excellents nulle part mais pas mauvais partout. C'est un peu ce que je cherchais. Avec du poids en moins, des carres plus méchantes et un poil de rigidité en torsion en plus, ils seraient parfaits.

Testé en randonnée à ski en station et hors station avec des chaussures de piste ainsi que en mode piste plus classique. Le kit offre un rapport qualité prix imbattable et permet de découvrir à faible coût les joies de la randonnée à ski. Certes ils sont un peu lourds comparé
à des skis de randonnée pure mais coûtant le double ou le triple du prix mais ils me donnent pleinement satisfaction pour de la randonnée occasionnelle.
