The first factor to consider when choosing a surfing wetsuit is the water temperature. Water temperature varies depending on the location and time of year. Keep these guidelines in mind: Warm = above 20°C. Temperate = 17°C–22°C. Cold = 12°C–17°C. Very cold = 7°C–12°C. Visit seatemperature.org to check sea temperatures around the world.

How to choose a wetsuit (part 1)

The second thing to consider is the length of your sessions. Our 100 models are suitable for sessions of up to 1 hour. For 1–2 hours, opt for a 500 wetsuit; for 2–3 hours, go for a 900. Wetsuits with a higher model number are warmer, more watertight, and better at reducing irritation and fatigue. The same is true for the 900 models, compared with the 500 models.
Note: The 900 models are easier to put on.

How to choose a wetsuit Part 2

To get the most out of your wetsuit, it’s important to choose the right size. A surfing wetsuit should fit snugly and have no visible folds. It’s normal for the suit to feel too tight when dry; this discomfort will disappear once you’re in the water. A wetsuit that’s too big can have folds that chafe and allow water to seep in, reducing thermal comfort.

Choosing a size

Olaian 900 wetsuits are made from 100% ultra-stretchy neoprene for thermal comfort and flexibility.  The neoprene is lined with synthetic fabric for added resistance to wear. 5 mm neoprene on the torso and 4 mm on the arms and legs.  The flexibility of the 900 range is provided by the stretchy properties of the foam and the textile.

Materials

The neck is designed to limit irritation. If you have sensitive skin, consider wearing a UV-resistant top under the wetsuit to reduce rubbing and chafing. The application of grease (e.g. Vaseline) in friction areas (neck, underarms, knees) is also recommended if wearing the diving suit for long periods.

Design

The Olaian 900 wetsuit range is designed for excellent freedom of movement while paddling. It features The entire diving suit is made from ultra-stretch neoprene. stretch seams, and a front zipper to free up your back during use.

This model comes with a built-in hood to help keep you warm and dry during long sessions in very cold water.
The front zipper allows more freedom of movement and improved watertightness compared to a traditional rear zipper. The slider is made of stainless steel to withstand exposure to salt water.

Technical features

Key pocket

The seams are stitched and glued to guarantee waterproofing and resistance. 
The seams are blind-stitched, meaning the thread does not entirely pass through the neoprene, preventing water getting through. 
To further enhance the watertightness and strength of the joints on our 900 ranges, they are fully braided on the inside. 
The absence of threads on the inside prevents irritation and chafing. Patches for comfort and reinforcement are strategically placed on the inside in sensitive areas.

The ankle and wrist cuffs are designed to keep water out 
and to keep the suit firmly in place when used with gloves and boots.

The zipper and hood are designed to be adjusted with one hand and are large enough to be used with gloves for sessions in very cold water.

Easy to adjust

The 900 5/4 mm wetsuit has a new, quick-dry inner lining that doesn’t weigh you down and allows you to use your suit several times a day without that wet suit feel.

Quick-drying

When you’re in the water, more than half your body heat is lost through your extremities (feet, hands, head). To stay warm, consider these accessories:
- Warm to temperate water (> 17°C): Low-cut neoprene booties.
- Cold water (12°C–17°C): High-cut booties and gloves.
- Very cold water (7°C–12°C): High boots, gloves, hood, and hooded top.
