At the beginner level, you are just learning to surf or surf only a few times a year. You ride small or broken waves in shallow waters where your feet touch the bottom. We offer a wide range of swimwear for beginners of all body types.

Beginner surfers

These Olaian leggings block at least 98% of UVB rays and 95% of UVA rays (UPF 50+), guaranteeing effective protection from the sun. Ideal for water sports, they can be worn in or out of the water. The density of the weave filters out UV rays for long-lasting protection, even after washing. The elastane may deteriorate in chlorinated water.

These leggings help reduce chafing, especially around the knees and inner thighs when you’re lying down or sitting on a surfboard.

UPF (ultraviolet protection factor) is an international standard that measures the proportion of UV rays a fabric lets through to your skin. 
A UPF of 50+ means that the fabric blocks at least 98% of UVB rays and 95% of UVA rays.

What does UPF 50+ mean?

The fitted waistband keeps the leggings in place even when you fall into the waves. A cord at the waistband can be tied to a UV-protection rash guard to keep the top from riding up. This cord does not tighten the waist.
We recommend pairing these leggings with an Olaian 500 UV-protection rash guard (available in short- and long-sleeved styles) for maximum protection.

They’re compatible with many other water sports, including swimming, kitesurfing, windsurfing, wakeboarding, water skiing, and stand-up paddle boarding.

Suitable for multiple water sports

Anti-UV leggings are a smart choice, but they don’t provide complete sun protection. It’s essential to consider other factors, such as reflections (off sand, water, etc.), temperature, and time of day, when you’re out in the sun. For example, you should also wear a UV-protection top, sunglasses, and a hat or cap, plus regularly apply sunscreen and drink water.
