These cool weather arm warmers are made with a seamless knit process, so they are thinner and lighter. They have a much greater air permeability than cold weather arm warmers. For temperatures from 10°C to 16°C, we recommend cool weather arm warmers. 
Cold weather arm warmers are made with Super Roubaix, a fabric also used for our winter cycling shorts. It is a warm fabric. For temperatures from 7°C to 14°C, we recommend cold weather arm warmers.

A product’s ability to protect against the cold depends on its thermal resistance and breathability. The higher the thermal resistance, the more body heat it retains while you ride.
During intense rides, perspiration on your hands can make them feel cold. We therefore recommend exercising at a moderate intensity in cold weather.

Waterproofness is a fabric’s ability to prevent rainwater from soaking through. 
Water repellency refers to a fabric’s ability to make water bead off its surface without being absorbed. The fabric soaks up little or no moisture, dries more quickly, and remains light. Water repellency also helps keep the outer surface cleaner.
Water repellency is obtained by applying a treatment to the fabric's external surface.

Toe covers give you more freedom and are much easier to put on and remove, but only work down to temperatures of 8–9°C.
Being both easy to use and compact makes them a popular choice with cyclists.

Overshoes or toe covers?

The easiest way is to slide your fingers over the instep of your shoe to separate the two. Then slide your fingers around under your shoe to pull the cover off over the cleat. And you’re done!

What we call neoprene is in fact a foam sandwiched between two layers. The outer layer is what makes the toe covers windproof and waterproof. The thickness of the foam (2–5 mm) helps keep you warm.

Technical specifications

To stop your feet from getting cold, you need good blood flow.
If you tighten your shoes too much, you will restrict blood flow to your feet, making them feel cold. Very thick winter shoes can also squeeze your feet inside your shoes.

It’s often the wind that makes you feel cold, so it’s a good idea to use a windproof toe cover.

What is the Pro Fit design?

These two jackets are very different. The Racer weighs 340 g (12 oz), whereas the Racer Xtrem weighs 680 g (24 oz). 
The Racer is a close-fitting jacket that is very effective for riding in spring, autumn, or mild winter weather. But in temperatures below 7°C, it reaches its limits, and that is when we turn to the Racer Xtrem.

These jackets are water-repellent, not waterproof, so we recommend taking an ultralight rain jacket if there is a chance of rain.

Which jacket should you choose, Racer or Racer Xtrem? 

In order to keep your jacket looking impeccable year after year, we recommend you machine wash it in a 30°C synthetic cycle. Close the zippers before washing your jacket.
Don't tumble dry, and don't use fabric softener! Don't dry clean it either.
Hang dry in a well ventilated area.

Overshoes specifically designed for road cycling in temperatures between 3°C and 10°C.

When it comes to waterproofness and durability, the weak link for overshoes is usually the zipper. The zipper is the most fragile part and will usually fail first due to the amount of pressure at the heel. 

Why no zipper? 

Here’s how to put it on without a zipper. Step 1: pull the overshoe on and up over the calf. Step 2: put your shoe on. Step 3: pull the overshoe back down over the shoe. 

Instructions

This product is designed to be used with road cycling shoes, which tend to be narrow. If your shoes are wider than average, then buy one size larger. 

Sizing

If your tights aren’t water repellent, they’re highly likely to soak up rain. Even the best overshoes in the world wouldn't help: if your tights are in contact with your socks, they'll absorb water through the capillary effect.
This is why all Van Rysel winter tights, such as the Racer long tights, are created with a water-repellent membrane.

Anatomic Endurance pad

This chamois pad is made from a unique combination of materials that offer the protection you need on your long rides. Both in the ischial and perineal areas. It has a protective, high-density, 120 kg/m³ foam insert. The top layer of fabric, which is in direct contact with the skin, is made from spandex and brushed polyester threads to prevent rubbing and irritation.
