How do balance bikes help kids’ psychomotor development?

Moving, learning and playing are key to a child’s development. With this bike, kids learn balance, spatial awareness and coordination skills, and have fun in the process.

Our #1 choice: Easy learning

Each part is specially designed. The low frame makes it easy for kids to get on and off, and handle obstacles like hills. The footrests encourage them to try balancing. The position of the footrests prepares them for a real bike. Last but not least, the saddle curves up at the back so kids can propel themselves efficiently.

Does anything prevent the handlebars from turning?

The handlebar rotates a lot for greater manoeuvrability. However, the shape of the frame stops the handlebars from rotating all the way around. Kids can practise steering safely.

A fun design

With its range of colours and both urban and sporty looks, this bike has something for everyone. Have you noticed the symbols on the frame? They’re different on each model and are sure to catch the eye of budding explorers. At this age, details really matter!

Just the right weight

Our Runride 900 balance bike weighs 3.6 kg. This top-of-the-line model is incredibly light and has real wheels (hub, spokes, 12" rubber tires)! The aluminum parts (frame, handlebar, seat post) make the bike really light for optimal balance between weight and efficiency. The only risk with this balance bike is that you’ll struggle to keep up with your mini cyclist!

Stop Easy innovation: a patented braking system designed for children.

Our Stop Easy system makes braking easier and provides a comfortable grip. For more natural movement, the brake lever is pressed parallel to the handlebars. Whilst it is progressive, this innovative brake lever also provides 30% more braking power compared to a conventional brake lever. A Btwin innovation that both parents and children love.

Brake like the big kids!

The brakes use a V-brake system with mini aluminum callipers. Our teams have designed it to be fully compatible with balance bike use: the adjusting screw is at the back so your child’s legs can’t rub against it.

12-inch wheels

For riding just like the grown-ups on all types of terrain, we opted for real rubber tires with an inner tube for grip and shock absorption. The 12-inch wheel size helps children feel better prepared for riding over obstacles. Makes life easier for parents: the angled valve gives you easy access when inflating it.

Why is the bearing quality important?

Balance bike teaches kids to propel themselves so they can learn to balance. The bearing quality is important, as it allows kids to gain enough momentum to lift their feet and find their balance. To help pick up speed, the spoked wheels are equipped with an aluminum hub with ball bearings (just like on big bikes). Get ready for some real workouts with your new rider!

Adjustment range: a detail that makes the difference

The 9.5-cm adjustment range on the saddle of this balance bike means that your child can continue to ride it as they grow. Min saddle height: 31.5 cm / max 41 cm. When kids are just starting out, the saddle should be at crotch level. The handlebar can also be adjusted by 2.5 cm. Max handlebar height: 55.5 cm. The handlebar and quill stem let you adjust the child’s position forwards and backwards (5 cm).

Technical specifications

Frame:aluminum handlebar: 420 x 19 mm, aluminum, with quill stem. Grip: SEBS polymer, 90 mm-long Seat post: aluminium, 218 mm long, 22.2 mm diameter saddle: polypropylene foam, 195 mm long, 124 mm wide wheel: 12" aluminium hub: aluminium with sealed bearings tires: 12 x 1.4, hybrid brake: Stop Easy lever and V-brake callipers

Are tools required?

We also took the needs of parents into account. The quick release system allows you to adjust the height of the saddle without tools. Adjust the height with a 5-mm Allen key. You’ll also need a 5-mm Allen key to remove the wheels. This tool comes with the balance bike.

Compatibility

This model is compatible with all accessories for ages 1–6: strap, basket, handlebar bag, bells, balance bike bag, bottle, and balance bike stand.

How are our balance bikes tested?

All our balance bikes are lab-tested. These tests confirm that they comply with the EN-71 safety standard and ensure the product’s durability and braking power. The product is tested to meet the needs of kids and parents alike, and stands up to real-life conditions.

What’s in the box?

The box contains the dismantled balance bike (wheels, frame, and saddle) and the tools needed to assemble it. Don’t worry, we’ve included assembly instructions, too! Your budding young rider will have a bike that’s been assembled and adjusted just for them.Box dimensions: width: 133 mm, height: 400 mm, depth: 600 mm.

How to ride safely

The bike should not be used on public roads. When learning to cycle, kids should ride on the sidewalk. Wear protective equipment (helmet and pads) when biking.

Compatibility with our accessories

This model is compatible with the accessories to be positioned on the handlebars for a diameter of 19 mm, as well as with the carrying strap, the balance bike bag and the balanced bike stand.

Very happy with this purchase. My 3.5 year old son loves the bike. The store even put the bike together for me! My only regret is not finding this bike earlier to have gotten more use when he was younger. However, I am happy with going the balance bike route, he is learning to

balance well before moving on to the pedal bike. Though the break is not essential (he has not explored using it so much yet), I like that he will learn the concept of the hand brake before moving onto a pedL bike with hand break. This brake feature is very hard to find in a balance bike. I also like that there is a place to rest the feet when gliding rather than having to awkwardly hold legs and feet out.

Nice looking bike, reasonable weight being made from aluminum. Our boy liked it from the start and really enjoyed riding once he got used to the slightly different wheel size and handling from his previous smaller balance bike. Tyres have lasted well with no punctures after ab

out 9 months. I would have preferred a quick release adjuster on the seatpost clamp for easy corrections on the move. The most significant negative point is the brake track is painted with the rest of the rim(!) This means braking was useless until the paint wore away, after which it was very good. Such a crazy thing to do, I can't imagine how this was overlooked One other minor point is the headset bearing was notchy out of the box. I chose to live with this as I suspect it will last long enough before he outgrows it.
