How warm is this padded jacket?
Worn as a third layer, this down jacket was certified effective during standardized heat chamber testing to a low of -5°C. The model is wearing a synthetic, long-sleeved shirt and a light fleece underneath. It works with a simulated 5 km/h (3 mph) wind. We also tested this product in static mode; the comfort temperature is 5°C in this case.
The advantages of down and feather filling
The fill power of down has 3 advantages for mountain hiking: - Thermal insulation, because of the air trapped in the down and feathers. - Ultra-lightweight: down wadding is lighter than synthetic and provides the same warmth. This saves more weight in your backpack. - Ultra-compressible.
Inflating power of down/feather filling
Fill power is a measure of the down’s thermal insulation capacity and potential to trap air. It is expressed in cuin (cubic inches). Down with higher fill power will take up more space, trap more air, and provide greater thermal insulation. This jacket is filled with 90% down and 10% feathers and has a guaranteed fill power of 800 cuin (international standard) or more.
Water repellency (different from waterproofing)
This fabric is water-repellent. Water repellency keeps the fabric lightweight and warm. It is recommended to wear a waterproof jacket over top in the rain. Treatment on the outer surface achieves water repellency, but the treatment can deteriorate with use. We recommend restoring it after each wash.
How to care for down jackets
This washable down jacket can be worn all winter. But the less you wash it, the longer its thermal insulation and water repellency will last. Our advice: 1. Machine wash at 30°C with detergent specially formulated for down or technical garments. Use a gentle spin cycle. 2. Tumble dry with 2 or 3 tennis balls; repeat 2 or 3 times until completely dry.
Restoring water repellency
After washing, we recommend using a water-repellent spray to prevent water absorption. This renews water-repellent properties and improves performance throughout the garment’s life cycle.
Got a snag? Here’s how to repair your down jacket.
Snags are common during hikes. The good news is that it can be repaired to prevent further tearing and to stop feathers from escaping. Need help repairing? Don’t worry! Some Decathlon workshops offer in-store repairs and can repair your jacket using an iron-on patch.

Highly recommend putting all of your exact measurements in the size guide, I did choose a Large as I will be wearing (and have been for the last 2 weeks) a base layer as well as a heavy fleece or micro grid fleece hoodie under this jacket. The price vs quality cannot be beat.
In my opinion, if you prefer it to be fitted, just order your regular size. If you wish to layer, size up.

I've really been enjoying this jacket. Very compact, I've definitely stuffed it into backpacks that have very little space left. Not water repellent but I didn't expect it to be. I recently got the jacket partially wet (it was inside my daypack that was not waterproof and ther
e was light rain for 30-40 mins) and I was surprised at how quickly it dried out once I got into the car. It runs smaller than I expected, but I'm used to North American sizing. I purchased a women's M and expected to have extra room, but it's more snug that I expected. I'm 5'4" and 130 lbs, with a small chest. I also have a patagonia down puffy jacket in a women's M, and in comparison, the fit is much more spacious and relaxed. If you're used to US sizes, definitely size up!

Got it for my wife, to match mine, love mine. Cloud of warmth, deployed in an instant from it's stuffed left hand pocket (double-sided zipper). Mine lives in a waterproof stuff sack in my EDC bag, sit on it to get the air out, compresses small! Fabric's a lil noisy, but other
than that, love the minimal features & the sub $100 price. Need more features, like an extra chest pocket, inner pouches, hood cinch, static warmth to 0°C? upgrade to the MT-500 for $45 more. Need more warmth? add a hard shell on top to block the wind & rain, but leave room for the down to loft up, loft = warmth, compressed means cold, like when sitting on or sleeping in it (my quilt has no hood), sit/sleep on a CCF pad that won't compress & lose its insulation (trapped air). Size up for extra layers underneath, and in general, as European sizes run smaller than us Canadians.

Still the best deal out there! We've bought 4 so far, and plan to buy more and especially if Decathlon introduces new colors (or revive old colors).
