This jacket is designed for wintry conditions: cold, rain, and snow. The 150 g/m² wadding on the body, 100 g/m² wadding on the arms, and synthetic fleece all provide insulation.  An inside flap under the zipper blocks cold air. The toggle at the hem ensures your jacket is comfortable down to -5°C.

Is my jacket warm enough for winter hikes?

The recommended comfort temperature is the outdoor thermal balance temperature at which 95% of men, hiking at a moderate intensity in controlled conditions, have been neither too hot nor too cold.

The limit comfort temperature is the outdoor thermal balance temperature at which 85% of men, hiking at a moderate intensity in controlled conditions, have been neither too hot nor too cold.

Comfort and limit temperatures

The jacket has a waterproof material that keeps out water and wind. To stay warm in winter, you must protect your extremities (head, hands, feet). The warm hood, hook-and-loop tab fastenings at the cuffs, and high collar keep the cold out. Two warm, very soft fleece pockets protect your hands from the cold.

How does this parka protect you from outdoor conditions?

The waterproofness of a jacket isn’t just limited to its components: the assembly technique also makes a difference.
Whether heat-sealed or sewn then waterproofed, this jacket’s overall waterproofness is measured using a shower test developed by Decathlon, which simulates rain of different intensities.
This waterproof parka protects you from a downpour, i.e., 12 cm (4.7”) of rain in 2 hours.

Jacket waterproofness

The waterproofness of a fabric, provided by a coating or membrane, is measured in Schmerbers or mm (pressure exerted by a column of water). The higher this number, the more watertight the fabric. 
This product has a watertight component resistant to 5,000 mm (Schmerbers) before washing.

Component waterproofing

Your jacket is waterproof, with fully taped seams. The inside seams are also sealed with waterproof tape to prevent water seeping into more vulnerable areas.
The waterproofing is verified by conducting a test that replicates the conditions of a two-hour rain shower. The jacket was also field-tested in all weather conditions to make sure it’s suitable for your activities.

Water often gets in through the seams. Does this jacket have waterproof seams?

Lots of pockets to keep all your accessories safe and handy (tissues, keys, phone) during your hikes.
Two lined pockets under a flap with a snap fastening on the outside and a secure pocket with a hook and loop tab fastening inside.
There is also a secure zippered pocket on the chest.

A practical jacket with smart details

Water repellency is a fabric’s capacity to make water run off its surface without being absorbed. It prevents the fabric from soaking up water, keeping it lightweight, warm, and breathable. Water repellency is achieved by treating the fabric’s exterior. The garment should be retreated over its lifespan (recommended after each wash). Products for this purpose (spray or liquid) are available in our stores.

How to preserve the technical qualities of your parka

This jacket is roomy enough to wear over a warm second layer like a fleece or light down jacket.
The classic cut is ideal for protecting you from the cold and wind while hiking on all types of terrain in winter.

Snug, feminine cut. The jacket is designed to be worn with a slim-fitting second layer such as a fleece sweater.

Sizing

Whatever your cold-weather activity, use the three-layer technique:
Layer 1: A high-tech base layer to wick moisture away from the body and keep your skin dry.
 Layer 2: A fleece jacket or sweater to provide warmth and transfer moisture outward.
 Layer 3: A jacket to protect against the elements (rain, snow, and wind). 
To eliminate moisture, the whole outfit must be breathable.

How to dress properly for hiking in cold weather

This product is guaranteed for two years from the date shown on the sales receipt. A product covered by the warranty will be exchanged free of charge. The warranty covers product defects, excluding those resulting from normal wear and tear or improper use.
