Are my boots warm enough for winter hikes?

We chose an ultra-warm, high-volume, insulating lining to give you effective protection from the cold in temperatures as low as -27°C (limit temperature). Lab and field tested with hikers. We verified the comfort temperature when stationary and when walking, as this can vary significantly: -4°C when stationary and -13°C when walking. We also considered how men and women feel the cold differently.

How do my boots protect me from outdoor conditions?

Your boots are designed with leather and a membrane to guarantee waterproofing and breathability. A membrane is an extremely fine component (5 to 25 micrometres) affixed to the inside of a fabric that prevents water from entering but allows moisture to escape. The high upper with an elastic gaiter protects against the cold and keeps snow out while the midsole provides perfect insulation. Your feet will be protected, warm, and dry.

Are my boots 100% waterproof?

We made sure that your boots are waterproof by conducting laboratory tests that simulate walking with the boots half-submerged in water. We also conducted field tests to measure wear and aging.

Thermal comfort is a balance between warmth and breathability. Too much heat or not enough breathability lets moisture accumulate and cold set in. A membrane prevents water infiltration while allowing moisture to escape.

What is the difference between traction and grip?

The boot’s traction depends on the number and shape of the treads. The grip depends on the materials of the sole and the tread pattern, like car tires. Traction optimizes propulsion, prevents slipping when going uphill, and stabilizes the boot. Grip prevents the boot from slipping and skidding on smooth ground or in demanding conditions (rain, snow, and ice).

The Snow Contact soles provide maximum grip comfort for hiking and traction on snow. The 4.5 mm (0.17“) lugs are spaced strategically for optimal grip when hiking in snow.The lugs provide optimal grip on hard snow and evacuate excess water to prevent you from slipping.

This product was lab-tested by our engineers to ensure your total satisfaction. We tested the following elements: tear resistance of eyelets and straps, bonding, toxicology, abrasion resistance of outsole and upper components, and accelerated aging.

Why choose a leather winter hiking boot?

Leather is comfortable, durable, and flexible. This material is waterproof and naturally breathable. Warm in the winter and cool in the mid-season, leather naturally regulates the temperature inside the boots. Clean your boots with a soft brush to extend their life.Do not grease them as they are made of leather.

How do I choose the right footwear for hiking in the snow?

To stay warm when hiking in the winter, we recommend the following principles: Warmth: wear warm socks (ideally with a good percentage of wool). Breathability: choose socks based on the intensity of the hike and, to minimize moisture, make sure they’re breathable. Boot height: the height of the sock should correspond to the height of the boot—for more protection, choose higher socks.

How to preserve the technical qualities of the boots

A fabric is water-repellent when water slides off the surface without being absorbed. The fabric does not soak up water and remains lightweight, breathable, and warm. Water repellency is achieved by treating the fabric’s exterior. This treatment needs to be reapplied throughout the product’s lifetime. Products for this purpose (spray or liquid) are available in our stores.

How to dry the inside of your boots

Boots can become heavy if you wear them in wet conditions (through condensation and perspiration). If your boots are very wet, remove the insole and fill the upper with balls of newspaper, changing them regularly. The paper will absorb the moisture and the boots will dry faster. Never place your shoes too close to a heat source. Leave them in a warm, dry, and ventilated place.
