What makes this footmuff multi-purpose?

The design team has come up with a system that's compatible with the straps on 3- and 5-point harnesses. It means that this footmuff can be used on a toboggan, in a stroller, or in a bike trailer.

How is the comfortable temperature of this footmuff measured?

Based on our simulations, this footmuff is comfortable in temperatures between - 5°C and -25°C. We test our products in the lab to measure their thermal insulation. The measurements are taken on a thermal mannequin wearing ski clothing and accessories. The comfortable temperature is the outside temperature at which a two-year-old child is neither too warm nor too cold. This feeling will vary depending on the intensity of the activity and the individual person.

How can you be sure that your baby will stay warm when dragging them through snow on a toboggan?

Our designers use wadding to keep your body warm. This synthetic polyester material traps air. If the wadding is thicker, it will trap more air and provide better insulation. This footmuff uses: - two layered pieces of wadding, each weighing 150 g/m². - one layer of insulation with needle punch reinforcement in the seat weighing 150 g/m². - a 220 g/m² fleece lining on the back and seat.

How should you dress a baby inside this footmuff in cold or very cold weather?

To keep your baby warm and dry, dress them in 3 technical layers as explained below, plus accessories (snow boots, mittens, ski socks): - Layer 1, or a thermal base layer, to keep them dry. - Layer 2, or an insulating layer, to keep the heat in. - Layer 3 to protect them from the weather.

How do we check the waterproofing of this baby footmuff?

This waterproof baby footmuff has passed a shower test of 60 L of water / m² / hour for 4 hours. This test reproduces the average conditions of a snow storm.

How do we check the waterproofing of this baby footmuff's fabric?

Fabrics are made waterproof by using a coating or membrane. This waterproofing is measured in Schmerber or mm H2O (the pressure exerted by a water column). The higher this number, the more waterproof the fabric. This baby footmuff is made from a coated waterproof fabric (tested under the JIS 1092 standard) that withstands 5000 mm H20 (Schmerber) before washing (the pressure of a 5 m water column).

What are the features of the Decathlon baby footmuff?

What's the point of the zipper that goes all the way around the footmuff?

With the water-repellent zipper and its 4 sliders, you have several options: - spread out the sides of the footmuff to make it easier to put your child on a toboggan or in a stroller. - cover or uncover your child. - open or close it to ventilate the bottom half of the footmuff.

How can you be sure that this baby footmuff will last?

We've taken particular care to choose suitable materials so that this product will last as long as possible. When used on a toboggan, in a stroller, or in a bike trailer, this baby footmuff will be subjected to repeated abrasion. The design team has therefore chosen a fabric that resists wear for the bottom part of the outside of the product. We conducted a Martindale test (EN ISO 12947-1:1999) and found that the fabric resists abrasion for up to 72,000 cycles.

Is this baby footmuff repairable?

This product is repairable. Throughout the warranty period, we undertake to repair your product free of charge. Whether it's been snagged, a seam has come undone or the zipper has broken, visit your local store and we'll see to it. If we're unable to repair your product (owing to a manufacturing defect), you can exchange it for a new one or get a refund.
