If your shoes are relatively waterproof, you’ll want to make a different choice: you need a sock that will absorb and wick perspiration away.

Choosing the right hiking socks

This sock comes in 3 lengths. The low sock reaches slightly above the shoes but under the ankles. They’re designed to be worn with low-cut shoes. The mid-height sock stops just above your ankles. Ideally, they’re worn with shoes with low uppers.  The high sock is best for shoes with medium or high uppers as it covers your ankle completely, stopping just below the calf.
