Component waterproofing

The waterproofing of a fabric is measured in Schmerbers or mm of water (pressure of a water column). The higher this number, the more waterproof the fabric. This jacket is designed with a waterproof coating: this component resists 5,000 mm of water (Schmerbers) before washing (equivalent to the pressure exerted by a 5,000 mm column of water).

Jacket waterproofness

It’s not just the components that make this jacket waterproof: the assembly technique also makes a difference. The overall waterproof properties of your jacket are measured with a shower test developed by Decathlon that simulates rain of varying intensity. This waterproof jacket protects you from a downpour, i.e., 12 cm (5”) of rain in 2 hours.

Preserving your jacket’s performance

To maintain the water repellency of the fabric, we recommend reactivating it regularly. Reactivate water repellency after three washes (remember to rinse thoroughly) or after using a dozen times in the rain. You can easily reactivate water repellency by warming the fabric: - in a dryer for 15 minutes (synthetics cycle) - with a hair dryer, moving back and forth at a distance of 20 cm (8”), twice - with an iron on the delicate setting and with the steam function off

Fabric breathability

The fabric of this jacket is breathable: RET = 12. Component breathability is measured using thermal evaporative resistance (RET). RET refers to a fabric’s capacity to let perspiration evaporate. The lower the RET, the more breathable the fabric. RET ≤ 6: very breathable fabric RET ≤ 12: breathable fabric RET ≤ 20: little or no breathability

Technical hood

Drawstring for adjusting hood height. Hook and loop tab at the back of the hood adjusts depth. Hood includes visor with shape memory for effective face protection.

Technical linings

The jacket lining is made of two materials: mesh in the back to improve the garment’s breathability and nylon at the hips to maximize ease of movement and durability. Hood includes ultra-soft fabric for added comfort.

Complete pocket system

The jacket has 7 pockets in total! Two side pockets for warming your hands. Two large external cargo pockets with a flap and snaps. One outer chest pocket and one inside pocket with a zipper to secure your personal belongings. One inner mesh pocket for storing your gloves and keeping them warm at the same time!
