Should you take your kids to basketball lessons?
Kids can learn basketball from a very young age with smaller balls and adjustable hoops. You can even take them to special basketball lessons with child-friendly rules from the age of 3 or 4. Learning proper technique and team work helps them develop motor skills. Basketball also develops muscles, flexibility, speed, endurance, and team spirit.
Which ball should you use?
The ball size depends on the player’s age and gender. Size 1: Ages 3 and up Size 3: Girls and boys ages 4 to 6 Size 5: Boys ages 7 to 11/Girls ages 7 to 13 Size 6: Boys ages 12 to 13/Girls ages 14 and up and women Size 7: Boy ages 14 and up and men For durability, choose a rubber ball. For a good ball feel, choose a leather or synthetic ball.
Which net height should you choose?
The official height of a basketball net is 3.05 m (rim height). If you want a basketball net for your child, you need something that will grow with them. There isn’t an official height for younger kids, so you can choose whatever suits them best. Up to the age of 10, club nets are set at 2.60 m. After the age of 10, kids play with 3.05 m nets.
