Are my boots warm enough for winter hikes?

With a limit temperature of -29°C, the thermal insulation when stationary is -6°C and when walking is -15°C, based on field and lab tests conducted with users. This gives you an accurate measure of the temperature at which these boots protect you. The comfort temperature ratings for your boots are displayed. We take into account that people perceive the cold differently.

How do my boots protect me from outdoor conditions?

A membrane ensures optimal water resistance. A membrane is a very fine component (between 5 and 25 micrometres) affixed to the inside of a fabric that keeps water out while letting moisture escape. These boots keep your feet both warm and dry. The outer and midsole insulate from contact with snow.

Breathable boots for optimal thermal comfort

Thermal comfort is a balance between warmth and breathability. Too much heat or not enough breathability lets moisture accumulate and cold set in. Designed with your activities in mind, this membrane prevents water infiltration while allowing moisture to escape.

Are my boots 100% waterproof?

We made sure that your boots are waterproof by conducting laboratory tests that simulate walking with the boots half-submerged in water. We also conducted field tests to measure wear and aging.

What is the difference between traction and grip?

The boot’s traction depends on the number and shape of the treads. The grip depends on the materials of the sole and the tread pattern, like car tires. Traction optimizes propulsion, prevents slipping when going uphill, and stabilizes the boot. Grip prevents the boot from slipping and skidding on smooth ground or in demanding conditions (rain, snow, and ice).

How much grip and traction does this boot provide?

Boots with Snow Contact soles provide maximum grip and traction for hiking in snow. The strategic spacing and height of the lugs (4 mm) offer optimal grip when hiking in snow. The lugs provide optimal grip on hard snow and evacuate excess water to prevent you from slipping.

What are the advantages of SnowContact technology?

The material and tread of SnowContact soles are specifically designed for optimal grip and traction. SnowContact soles are more effective on snow than traditional soles. When walking on ice, adding crampons to your boots is the only way to ensure optimum safety.

Will my boots withstand regular use in the long term?

This product was lab-tested by our engineers to ensure your total satisfaction. We tested the following elements: tear resistance of eyelets and straps, bonding, toxicology, abrasion resistance of outsole and upper components, and accelerated aging.

How do I choose the right footwear for hiking in the snow?

Follow these guidelines for your winter activities. Warmth: wear warm socks (ideally with a good percentage of wool). Breathability: choose socks based on the intensity of the hike and, to minimize moisture, make sure they’re breathable. Boot height: the height of the sock should correspond to the height of the boot—for more protection, choose higher socks.

How to preserve the technical qualities of the boots

Water repellency is a fabric’s capacity to make water run off its surface without being absorbed. The fabric does not soak up water and stays light, breathable, and warm. Water repellency is achieved by treating the fabric’s exterior. This treatment needs to be reapplied throughout the product’s lifetime. Products for this purpose (spray or liquid) are available in our stores.

How to dry the inside of your boots

Boots can become heavy if you wear them in wet conditions (through condensation and perspiration). If your boots are very wet, remove the insole and fill the upper with balls of newspaper, changing them regularly. The paper will absorb the moisture and the boots will dry faster. Never place your boots too close to a heat source. Leave them in a warm, dry, and ventilated place.

Comfortable and warm. I sprayed mine when I bought them so I can't speak to waterproofing. I get compliments on these boots almost every time I go out even from random strangers. The only caveat I have is that the ankle section is very stiff and I find I need to wear a well

padded sock that reaches my calf above the boot.

A good pair of nice looking boots that are not the traditional black. I'm usually a size 10 or 11 depending on the brand, but needed to get the US size 12 for the boots to properly fit me.

Great value. Keep moving, they keep you warm. Spent the weekend in 1-2" of snow, and one hike in deep snow, feet were dry.

Haven’t had a chance to use them in snow or rain so can’t comment on waterproof. Feels like a running shoe but acts like a boot. Looking forward to walking my dog with these boots this winter.

Very good shoes, my husband has used them since he bought them and he loves them. These days when the temperatures have been low, he tells me that he has not felt cold in his feet and that with the snow they have not gotten wet inside. He also tells me that they are very comfo

rtable.
