Main component
3-layer material with membrane.
Membrane
The waterproof rating depends on two key criteria: component and construction. This product was made with a membrane. The membrane is a kind of very thin plastic film (polyurethane) that makes the component waterproof and breathable. It is flexible, lightweight, and breathable.
Layer design
3-layer design: The membrane is glued between the outer and inner fabric. We use it for durable, high-performing jackets.
Component waterproofing
Laboratory tests are conducted to guarantee the waterproof rating of a component. The resistance of a fabric is measured by the height of a water column in mm. The higher the water pressure, the more waterproof the fabric. This product’s component has a 20,000 mm waterproof rating and can withstand the pressure of a 20,000 mm water column. This is equivalent to 20,000 Schmerber.
Water resistance of the jacket
We conduct laboratory tests that simulate rainfall to guarantee the jacket’s waterproof rating. This product was validated in a shower test under 18 cm of rain for 2 hours. This test reproduces the average conditions of a mountain storm.
Breathability
Component breathability is measured by its thermal evaporative resistance (RET). This allows perspiration to escape during physical activity, preventing it from accumulating on the skin. The lower the RET, the more breathable the fabric. RET ≤ 6: very breathable fabric RET ≤ 12: breathable fabric RET ≤ 20: not very breathable fabric This product as a RET of 6.
How to restore water repellency
A fabric is water-repellent when water slides off its surface without being absorbed. Because the fabric doesn’t soak up water, it remains lightweight and breathable. Water repellency is achieved by treating the fabric’s exterior. This treatment needs to be reapplied throughout the product’s lifetime. Water repellency can be reactivated by putting the item in the dryer for 10 minutes on low heat. You can also use a waterproofing spray (ref.: 8554908).

Excellent shell jacket, very comfortable. Sizing is fitted, so consider going up a size if you’re looking for a looser fit.

I thought it fit on the small side. I'm 70 kg, and can only wear a T-shirt & light fleece with it.
