The cut of these overpants was designed to be sufficiently wide so it can be worn and taken off easily. And still feminine!

These top-layer pants are made up of 3 layers, the best protection there is on the market: the membrane is glued between the inner and outer component layer.
The membrane is a very thin polyurethane film that makes the component waterproof while remaining breathable.
It's protected by a knit, and has the advantage of being softer, lighter, more durable, and often more breathable than a coating.

The water-repellent property of a fabric is its capacity to make water run off its surface without being absorbed. This means the top-layer pants don't soak up water and they stay lightweight and breathable. The fabric is made water-repellent by treating its outer surface; however, this property may deteriorate with use.

The JIS L 1099 B1 test measures the water vapour that passes through the fabric in 24 h, in grams per square metre. The higher this value, the more breathable the fabric. A performance rating of 15,000 g/m²/24 h, corresponding to a highly breathable fabric, is ideal for mountain hiking.

A fitted cut with raglan sleeves for optimal freedom of movement in the mountains! This design means you can easily layer a fleece or lightweight down jacket underneath, depending on the conditions. Practical tip: choose one size up for comfortable, effective layering.

The membrane acts like a smart filter: it blocks water from the outside while allowing sweat to escape. Integrated between the inner and outer layers, it guarantees durability and lasting performance so you can face the unpredictable mountain weather with confidence.

What is a membrane?

Do up the zippers, turn the jacket inside out, and machine-wash it at 30°C. Use a smaller dose of detergent (preferably one specifically for waterproof clothing) to avoid residues. Rinse again and gently wring out to protect the jacket.

How to wash your jacket

Traditional waterproof jackets keep you dry on the outside, but trap moisture on the inside due to a lack of breathability. This jacket avoids this pitfall thanks to its extremely breathable fabric and side openings that effectively wick away perspiration while you hike.

Why use a ripstop fabric?

The Schmerber measures the resistance to water pressure: the higher the value, the more waterproof the fabric. With a rating of 20,000 mm H2O (Schmerbers), this jacket can withstand a water column of 20 m and guarantees optimal protection, even in heavy rain.

What are Schmerbers?

Height-adjustable hood with an elastic cord and drawstring. The built-in semi-rigid visor provides optimal protection. Added extra: Triangular opening on the side of the hood to improve lateral visibility.

What is its storage capacity?

By developing your product, we have enhanced the comfort with adjustable straps and vertical foam pads on the back. The ventilated fabric on the back and straps provides better ventilation. As a bonus: thumb loops.

How comfortable is this backpack?

This backpack is water-repellent. In light rain, water will roll off without penetrating it. However, it is not completely waterproof. If the rain goes on too long or is too heavy, water will seep through. For extra protection, choose our 10–20 L rain cover (ref. 8772113).

The temperature ratings (recommended and limit) come from a study with a test panel of 23 walkers exposed to temperatures ranging from 5°C to -20°C and 10 km/h winds. How is usage temperature measured?

Just like you wear several layers of clothing when hiking, you can wear liner gloves under your gloves that will act as a thermal base layer. This multi-layer system enables pockets of air to form around your hands, efficiently insulating them from the cold. Remember to wear large enough gloves so your fingers do not become constricted. Compression reduces blood circulation in the fingers.

How to effectively protect your hands from the cold

When active, the body generates heat that is preserved by your clothing’s thermal insulation. If clothing isn’t warm enough, your body cools down and circulation to your hands and feet drops to keep your core warm. Your clothing therefore plays a role in keeping your hands warm.

How to keep your hands warm with the right clothing

Dexterity refers to your ability to handle objects while wearing gloves. Our MT 500 Hiking Gloves have been rated in a laboratory. The closer the glove’s dexterity is to 5, the easier it is to handle objects while wearing gloves. For example, we tested the MT 500 Hiking Gloves for putting on and opening a jacket, handling objects in a bivouac, and eating and drinking. The MT 500 Hiking Gloves have a dexterity rating of 4 out of 5.

What is a glove’s dexterity?

Did you know that the wind can make you feel colder? An outdoor temperature of 0°C with a wind speed of 20 km/h feels like -10°C. The windproof components reduce the wind chill resulting from the cooling effect of the wind.

- durable fabric (207 g/m²) on the areas that need protection from abrasion (seat, bottom of the leg at the front). This fabric is also stretchy for freedom of movement. It has undergone a water-repellent treatment.

Dual-component structure

These pants have water-repellent zones (lower leg and seat) that prevent water from seeping through the fabric. This product is water-repellent, not waterproof.
The water-repellent pants don’t get wet too fast, but they won’t keep you dry in pouring rain. To restore the water repellent property, tumble dry on low heat for 10 minutes.
