These pants have been tested in the field in real-life conditions. They were worn for 5 weeks by testers who undertook the Grande Traversée des Alpes (GTA) in late spring of 2017. The second version of these pants was tested during the summer of 2020 in the Northern Alps. These tests were used to validate the MT 500 Hiking Pants in real-life use.

These pants weigh about 370 g (13 oz.) in M.
Dual-component structure
Pants with 2 different components: - a durable fabric (207 g/m2) on the areas that need protection from abrasion (seat, bottom of the leg at the front). This fabric is also stretchy for freedom of movement. It has been treated for water repellency. - a lightweight, breathable fabric (150 g/m2) on the rest of the pants.
Water-repellent properties
These pants have water-repellent zones (lower front of the leg and the seat) that prevent water from seeping through. This product is water-repellent, not waterproof. The water-repellent areas slow down the rate at which water and moisture is absorbed, but they will not keep you dry in steady rain. To restore the water-repellent property, tumble dry on low heat for 10 minutes. Alternatively, we recommend you wear waterproof rain pants (product number 8504646).

Hand pocket opening direction
The hand pockets are intentionally designed to close downward. The zipper does not cause irritation when you tighten your backpack’s waist belt, and your belongings stay safe in your pockets.

Straight cut and stretch fabric in the right areas guarantee optimal comfort on the move. Choose your usual size. Inside leg seam: 80.9 cm (32”) in size M. Hem width: 19.7 cm (7.8”) in size M.

I bought these pants for my hiking trip to Newfoundland, knowing that rain is always expected there. I know that these pants are water repellent, but not waterproof. We did a 13km hike in constant rain, and they were soaked through and through. I wore them another time where w
e were in the rain for 10 minutes, and the seat of the pants were very wet. I really like the pockets and that my cell phone fits nicely in one of them. Easy and quick to take out for photo shots. That being said, they are extremely comfortable and my new go to pants for hiking, but not in the rain 😊.

These pants are amazing! The fit is a little on the small size but the flexible fabric allows for full range of motion. I have worn these pants in very hot and humid conditions and did not feel overheated. I love the two-colour style and will definitely order these pants again
