What are boardshorts?

Boardshorts are swimming shorts. They were created in the 1950s for surfing. Over the years, they have become a popular style of swimsuit. The name comes from their use in aquatic board sports, like surfing. They were developed primarily to limit chafing against the board.

Boardshorts design

For sessions under 1 hour It’s important to choose boardshorts that you don’t constantly have to adjust while you’re out on the water. Shorter styles are recommended for bodyboarding to ensure greater range of motion. Quick-drying material is also key to prevent sand from sticking.

How to choose the right size of boardshorts

To choose a size, we recommend visiting the size guide available on the boardshorts product file. Available in S, M, L, XL, XXL. You might also consider your body type. Here is some advice that could help you. We recommend choosing a shorter pair if you’re widest in the torso and legs, while a longer style is more suitable if you have a slender build.

Wave resistance

It isn’t easy to adjust your boardshorts while you’re surfing, so it’s essential to choose the right waistband. Look for an elastic or semi-elastic waistband with a drawstring or a flat design for better hold.

Reduced chafing

It is surely the most important criteria. It is common for the boardshorts or its seams to chafe. Our boardshorts are designed specifically to limit chafing, a common issue for surfers.

Freedom of movement

In aquatic board sports like surfing, it’s particularly important to have maximum range of motion, so your boardshorts should have an ample amount of stretch.

Quick-drying

Waterlogged boardshorts can easily become caked with sand. These boardshorts are quick-drying and won’t get bogged down.

Boardshorts length comes down to personal preference. Shorter styles, for example, provide greater freedom of movement. The average size L is 20 inches long (51 cm).
